catching tuna

okay, still new to the game, but i got to the part to catch tuna and i needed a special bomb and it gave me the drone.

a bit later, imget an email for a "tuna party" and i need to catch more tuna and i can't find tuna anywhere.
doesn't help that when i the a quest for the sea people, it automatically advanced the time to the next day, even though i did that on the morning dive, skipped a day. . .missing 2 opportunities to dive.

as far as i know, it seems themonly way to actually catch the tunas is with that special bomb, that's only sold in cobra's shop and is not guaranteed to be there. . or is it? i've seen it twice and i wasn't sure about getting it and i was gonna get it, but then i forgot and started the dive and immediately, the tuna were there and i couldn't get them because i forgot to buy the bomb.

this was the same dive i did that sea people quest and beat the wolf eel and it skipped to the next day.

next day, i see the bomb in there again and so i buy it. . and there's no tuna.

so, is this gonna be a crapshoot? every time i see that bomb, i have to buy it, even though the tuna are not even guaranteed to appear, it's like a tax i have to pay before each dive, because if i don't buy the bomb and the tuna appear, now i miss out, but if i do buy the bomb and they don't appear, then i just wasted money?

i guess those themed "parties" don't really matter in the long run?

Themed parties are there just to give you a temporary money boost. Of course if you don't have any themed dishes on sale, your profits will be quite low for the night.

And you can catch tunas just by hurting them enough, you don't need the special bomb,it just makes it very much easier.
Tunas swim the same pattern all over again, so it is not that hard to position yourself in a good place and keep hitting the same tuna.

Those parties just give you extra cash and bonus multiplier to money really.
There's a Steel Netgun you unlock and upgrade that will make catching those Tuna way easier. Otherwise, you need to hit them with hush darts.

oh, i guess they just have lots of hp then. . i was sitting there shooting them over and over and they weren't dying. I mist have just given up too quick.
it's too early in the game, the steel net upgrade isn't even available.
the hush dart didn't seem to work either. I shot it and when the timer finished, the fish just recovered instead of falling asleep. unless , am i supposed to use multiple darts?

the tuna party event appeared 2 days after the story event to unlock tuna fishing and it didn't really give me much time to prepare for it.
I do have 6 of each left over from that first session when he taught to to fish for them.

Two Hush darts of the upgraded hust dart gun. It's more a matter of memorizing patterns of them swimming. Of course the steel netgun is way better, and more of a sure thing.
Don't worry too much about them though. These events rotate regularly, and you don't have to do amazing at them.
