why is everyone so mean to my boy dave

Well at least there's some people who were lot appreciate him. Like Cobra, Bancho, and a lot of people too that I will describe if I could.

Cobra - him & Dave seems having history together, when their first meet up Cobra were doing something that were a bit shady. But they were a good friend. Well yeah, he does trick and using our boy to help his new business. But between him and other character, Cobra is the most supportive one. He open a personal shop for you with cheap price and saving Dave multiple time if "Game Over" happened. Yeah, he less much interactive and possibly almost send Dave to his death, but he always dependable when Dave n co need something.

Bancho - when they first met, you can see that Bancho might a bit harsh character but not rude. He's a type of a tough cookie guy and with a lot of experience in his ability, that kind of person sometimes help on to tough up the protag. Bancho may not be the nicest but he was kind, caring, and always helping Dave when he need his cooking help. And yeah, Bancho need Dave's help to keep his restaurant running and keep telling him to collect some ingredient that can threaten Dave's live, but I see their relationship were like a coworker but with side of friendship.

Otto - I'm bit forget their first meet up. But I can see that Otto is a kind of a rude customer to the bar but not to Dave when Dave confronting him. Otto sharing his experience like a typical fatherly old man (especially the knee) and ask something that can bring back bit of his childhood. When Dave help him, Otto appreciating Dave help by building a fish farm & a vegetable farm for him in a single night (this guy isn't human) and free (except the upgrades). This guy is an absolute powerhouse when giving help and he doesn't being rude either, making him one of my favorite character.

Miss Yoshie - her first appearance may be a bit rude but it was never to Dave, only to Bancho. Her interaction with Dave were pretty good, yeah she is like Bancho no 2 but in management system. Like telling him to give a good examples to the employee or something, but she was pretty nice to Dave and trusting him too.

Dr Bacon - It's a bit funny that when they first meet up, he asking Dave for help cause Dave's the only one who were diving in the Blue Hole. After that he keep asking more until the end of the game. But he was kind enough to help Dave by upgrading his Diving gear and helping him to communicate and interacting with the sea people. Even so all his help were also benefiting him too at the end. But still I like his commitment and his help to make us progressing on the story.

Mima - possibly one of the nicest sea people that Dave encounter. She's like a super kind auntie that will feed you a lot of foods. At first she ask you to do some chores for her to help Dave get some trust to the villagers. At the end she offer some buff help on diving and is the most kindest and nicest sea people that I encounter, and never even being rude to you.

The monk lady (forgot her name) - She is the nicest and sweetest sea people that I've encounter. She probably offering you some chores to help Dave to gain the villagers trust but isn't that much of a deal. She is caring to the other and kind enough to help Dave's on his journey. From the looks of it she didn't really taking advantages of him that much and when she's in trouble it's Dave that offering her help.

Well that's all I can get. You were right, Dave is the most chill and friendly dude in the game and a lot of people really much taking advantages on him first. But at the end Dave's charm manage to make everyone his allies even though most people some times keep teasing and making fun of him like some friends do.

I was in class with Dave at highschool. Never noticed him untill he got the main roll in this game. Only thing I know about him is that he had a job at McDonalds and that they fired him after a few months 'cause there were always fries and burgers missing after his shift. Seems like a nice guy though. But I heard the fame went up to his head and that he is a total jerk now.
