Definitely agree with this; I want so badly to wear the gun and harpoon boost charms, but I'm just too slow and am not good at dodging. Wish you could somehow upgrade or combine charms; would save me having to get dumplings every dive.
Being FORCED to carry a lethal weapon just to handle these crackdogs is just a dumb design.
And yes im fkn pissed. Spent 1h and lost over 150 items from the frozen passage and all the way up and collected a ton of stuff(no fish) and then when i got 10-15 meters left to surface with 60~ oxygen left that crackdog comes swimming in from the side of screen and charges directly and insta kills me with his tail whip.
Seriously what the actual hell is up with their INSANE dmg and speed? It makes no sense at all that these guys are more lethal then a tiger shark.
Also, why the hell are they INSANELY aggro? Our character is a massive man, way to big for them to even consider.
"How aggressive are Thresher Sharks? Thresher sharks are quite shy and don't like being around people. They only target small animals, as they stun them with their tail. Therefore, they do not target people, as they are too large for this to work"
I just ran into my first Thresher shark and wow.. they do not let up at all I do not think you can dodge them if you tried.. I had full O2 and I think it killed me in 4 hits.. I actually tranquilized him but unfortunately did not have an submersible charges left so he woke up before I could kill him outright and he killed me.. pretty lame not looking forward to running into another one of those..
but to be honest, I don't have a big much problem with thresher though. I consider it my number 2 hardest shark to kill. My biggest shark nemesis in this game is Mako, and I swear I begin to have my own vendetta with them cause how big their damage and fast they are.
(You know you were already dead if there's 2 of them on the screen)
But I agree, Thresher needs to be nerfed.
So there are even tougher ones. Great haha
I just killed my first thresher.. it took 5 tranq shots from my tranq sniper. Seems like it has a decent health pool. I saw a guy use just 2 hush darts to subdue one but I don't have those upgrades yet.
Right now it just feels like a pain in the ass to encounter one, and it either means you burn up a decent chunk of O2 running away before it finally gives up (way longer chase range than other daytime sharks) or you use up all your ammo and probably some O2 from a stray hit or two, as well as probably a consumable or two getting fully used up before the thing finally goes down.
Other daytime sharks in the shallows can be avoided entirely if you're careful, but Threshers? It's really difficult to avoid those because of their aggro radius and chase range, coupled with their high speed and relentless attacks. Huge difficulty spike in the Shallows when those start spawning, it's a little absurd.
Also want to agree on the Thresher, and say that I found it a lot easier to deal with once I was running around with 300+ oxygen - back in the 180 days it was awful, I lost multiple dives of loot to him.
Also want to add that if you have the HP to withstand the hits, you can just slash the absolute bejesus out of him with your knife.
