And i did all the bosses with the basic unterwater rifle because it has the best ammo to dmg ratio.
Just pick up the rocket launcher and fire it every time it is ready.
I was trying to think what my favorite or least favorite fight in the game is...they are all fine but I also don't love any of them.
They are all fairly easy to figure out what to do, about 3-4 hits (or weapon clips) and done.
Infinite tries. Reminds me of nintendo game-style bosses.
With this one I think one of my biggest issues is actually the size of the arena. Quite often if I was dodging the boss I couldn't see where the missile launcher was or if I was collecting the launcher I couldn't see what the boss was doing, or other times the boss would swim out of range while I was in the middle of locking on. And you don't seem to be able to dash while holding it so good luck getting in range again before it's already spewing fire or charging at you. You can already only get in place to avoid the fire if you're luckily on the right side of the arena because of how slowly Dave swims. Honestly it's just... not a fun fight, at all. Some of the earlier ones were fun but I'm just waiting to beat it so I can put the game down and do something else.
Edit: I ended up closing the game without saving and just redid the whole day starting from before the phantom jellyfish boss and going into the fights knowing what to expect and being able to prepare for the specific mechanics is NIGHT AND DAY. I probably could have beaten it if I'd kept trying but the second time around with better charms (I would say gun as well, but I was actually lucky enough to find a level 3 flame rifle in a gun crate in the main glacial area that was better than the twice-upgraded sniper rifle I'd brought with me), a scoot-scoot and an extra oxygen tank I very nearly did it first try. And I still hated it. Riding the beluga through the glacial tunnels was fun. Fighting the helicoprion while controlling Dave and Suwam simultaneously was fun. This was not fun. I guess the lesson here is spoilers are good?
I don't know if you skip dialogue but the game is letting you know that a boss fight is ahead, it never just throws you into a boss fight and if you just rush into every fight without preparing, or if the thoughts "Should i upgrade my stuff before i take the fight?" or "Should i open some containers before the fight?" or "Maybe cobra sells something that help me in the fight" never crosses ur mind then it is absolutly not the games fault that you have trouble with a boss fights, and then again it's totally okay to struggle with boss fights in the end they are called bosses for a reason, learn adapt overcome. :D
Tell me where they warn you that you're about to fight Krono, because I just finished that whole ordeal and it came upon me with no warning whatsoever.
I went through the last switch cave with Suwam; got a boss fight at the end of it, which I expected. Then after the switch was hit, I went to the door at the bottom of the thermal pit expecting to see it open and get an opportunity to go back up before going beyond the door. At no point did the game warn me that I needed to be prepared for the one and a half boss fights that happened as soon as I got close enough to that door. In fact, Suwam seemed to make it pretty urgent that I get to that door.
In other times when I've worked with him, he's usually stood by the doors and waited for me to signal him when I was ready. I thought this might be yet another time when I'd see a minor cut scene, then get to go back up top to recuperate. Instead, I found myself rolling from one boss fight to another, and then to another in rapid succession without any warning at all. Frankly, I found it really unreasonable that this happened the way it did.
Granted, I have managed to beat Krono. It took many deaths, but I did it. But I would have really liked some kind of warning before going down to the door. I had so much stuff on me that I didn't want to give up and lose it all, but as the OP said, it didn't feel good having to go through that fight. For me, it was the circumstances that lead to it. I felt forced into the confrontation, and for a game that's otherwise casual, a head's up would have helped me a lot here.
As a tip to all players who read this, the game only auto saves on certain areas so you can force quit and reload your save w/o much loss. The game saves when you do any activity on the surface, when you enter the underwater village, and when you choose the 1 item to keep when you drowned.
So if you do struggle, just reset the game, leave w your current loot and then dive w your best offensive gear.
