Humboldt Squid roe chances?

I am trying to get 2 humboldt squid in my farm but I do not get any roes for over 1 hour already(save and load). I always caught them with drone so they are all 3 stars. My fish farm is not at its capacity either, I can get the roes from other night dive fishes.
Does catching them with drone not giving roes?

nothing you do guarantees you roe. it is random chance. the chance is higher if the catch is 3 stars (and for large fish, drone is the only way for 3 star). but its just bad luck unfortunately. took me a good ~6 dives to get roe from the squid and even then, doesn't guarantee its a 3 star squid either.

What is dumb is that the QTE event will still trigger when you put it to sleep with the toy hammer. You are there struggling with the empty water.

I used to get like 1 in 3 from those things. Either something is bugged or seriously horrible luck. Or maybe I had super good luck idk.

So did you get roe while extracting the squid with the drone? So far, since i started paying attention, i never got roe with the drone. Was just my luck then or you have to kill them in order to obtain roe?

You can get roe regardless of whether you drone or kill. I'm not sure if quality affects the chance of getting roe (if anything it should increase the chance), but I don't think droning itself has any impact. All the game says is when you hunt fish you stand a chance of bringing back fish eggs with you, so the only definite is that you only get roe for species you end the dive with in your inventory.

Beyond that, I think its just luck. I've been really lucky on some dives (first dive into Glacial Area, for instance, I got roe for all the big catches all at one time.) But squid took me several dives to get, both droning and killing. Honestly think its just based on luck, and MAYBE on quality, but I know for a fact that killing any fish does not disqualify the chance of roe (except maybe 1 star? Not sure, I never bring back anything 1 star so I can't say.)

So have you actually noticed getting roe from a fish you caught with the drone without having another fish from the same species caught with different means?
I know it's luck based but so far i only get roe from fish i caught/killed with the harpoon or with the steel net launcher.

Same thing goes for the unique materials some fish drop. Never got one with the drone.

Yes. I've caught roe from a fish caught exclusively with the drone and not killed / harvested. Including the squid.

Now I do think the unique fish drop is tied to harvesting, because I have only ever received it when I harvest the fish personally (either by cutting it twice, or for the smaller predators, looting the body). So yeah I do think that part is tied to droning, since the trade off would be getting extra meat out of the catch with the whole body intact.

I mean it is technically possible to be a bug with your game, but I really just think you had ♥♥♥♥ luck with drones and droning does not prohibit roe because plenty of fish I've caught only in a drone I received roe from.

Make sure your fish farm is not at or near 99%. Even though the message notifying you is gone and you may get roe for shrimp, something is wacky and you will still not get roe for larger creatures at 99%. I kept all my farms at 99% and was only getting roe for shrimp/clione/nautilus', lowered them all to <90% and was suddenly getting roe for nearly every three-star big fish I captured.

I think you are right about the % in fish farms. As soon as i lowered them i got roe with the drone at my first dive. Thanks man! ^^

Omfg; if this is true...man; I have been trying for two days to get roe from that stupid ancient shark in the upper Hydrothermal Vents. I suck at the controls, you can only hit it in the ribs, and I need it's armor plates or whatever for upgrades, anyway. I have hush darted and droned that thing so many times now, at maximum anxiety level because i'm not great at the charging fish fights, only to get NOTHING every time. So, I thought maybe you need to actually HARVEST the meat, rather than droning it back (which is super heavy, so then wtf is the point of having a drone, and that just annoyed me beyond belief). I have been going over the boards, reading anything with the word ''roe'', and it still seems iffy and unclear....however, this statement....I have to go through the whole fricking thing again, but need to test this.

If this actually pans out...thank you SO much.
