Gumo not available - is this a bug?

I recently finished the game, finishing ALL quests. The only thing which is left to me is perfecting the recipes and making achievements.

From some game versions before, I remember that you were able to unlock Gumo (the farmer at some special village), even in midgame.

But in my current game, I can do nothing with him, aside from talking. And yes, I finished the quest from the seed salesman to the left of the villag (sha-whatever?) but was not handed out a seed for Gumo.

Is my safefile bugged? Because there is still an achievment about Gumo available...

Sounds like it. I unlocked Gumo's farm around midgame just from doing the missions involved with him. Can't recall what, but I got access to him after bringing him a food dish he asked for I think.
