Thresher Shark Tips?

I've probably died more to this thing than to any other non-boss creature. How do you fight this thing?

triple axel with tranquilizer upgrade. 45% chance the fish will sleep.

^either that or a nicely upgraded sniper. I like the sniper the most since it has the most range and with 4 bullets.. you kill pretty much everything but bosses.

+1 for Sniper - you can get the jump on pretty anything as it outranges their agro range. GREAT for Sharks like absolutely AMAZING for Sharks.

Know where it spawns and predict that the first thing it'll do is charge you for that fast tail slap. Come prepped. Past that charge it's standard shark tactics I think.

Yep sniper trumps all other guns that you need. Even bosses become a joke if you keep your sniper up to date.

I was near over weight w my lvl 3 sniper when I fought the kronosaurus all I did was stand and unload every ammo there is and then picked up the missle launcher and fired at it once to end it. The whole fight lasted 1-2 mins.

Nah it’s main line is better since it’s final form is called death sniper and it gives I think 20% or 40% chance to instant kill any none boss targets and it has 5 bullets. More than enough to kill every shark.

There are always other ways down, its better to survive than waste time dying. I would just avoid it if its too hard for you to handle, until you get a better weapon or upgrade your harpoon some more.

Upgrading the sleep dart so you can sleep larger creatures is a good way to avoid it. All it takes is 2 shots and it sleeps long enoug for you to use the drone, if you need the meat, or swim away from it.

While that thing is pretty awesome.. thats totally endgame. He would need to farm a bunch of things while the lvl 3 sniper is easily obtainable pretty early.

If I remember correctly the Thresher Shark doesnt spawn before you get into a part where you can start gathering parts for exectly that upgrade

Keep your distance
When you turn in circles, always do it wide
Don't fight it near terrain, always go to an open area
Sniper or rifle helped me a lot but YMMV

For some reason, sharks have wonky turning radius that when they turn while aiming at you it feels like they're sticking at you and combined with their hitbox, they can deal a ton of contact damage in a short period of time so avoid narrow spaces.

I'm using lv3 poison sniper btw so I can hit and run, let poison do its thing, rinse & repeat.
I avoid entirely if I'm using any other weapon, it's a waste of time to kill it TBH when it doesn't even sell that well.

Eventually the max upgraded basic rifle is better than anything else, but I did find myself using intermediate upgrades on the sniper rifle until I could craft a death rifle.

The sniper rifle can carry vs hard enemies mid-game, it's just that late game the death sniper rifle is kinda meh compared to just the death rifle.

When it first spawns there is only one I think, and its always to the left side in the same depth. I just avoided it till I had better guns^^

Shoot while it passes overhead.
