Controller deadzone option?
i really wish we could have a controller deadzone option, i have slight drifting on the controller and with 0 deadzone it makes it very difficult to play this game with it

I agree. The button mashing caused my drifting issues. It's so hard to get stationary to open any boxes or O2 containers, or even to capture a tranquilized fish/shark. Sucks that I need to buy a new controller because this game broke mine.

Use DS4Windows which allows you to apply a universal deadzone to all games.

The game didn't break your controller. The poor sticks that xbox/PS use are meant to fail to make you buy more controllers. There are controllers for sale without this intentional issue.

I've got an old wired 360 controller that's starting to show its age and makes two things in this game stupidly hard: getting stationary to open chests, and pouring drinks. Unfortunately I'm playing via Proton so not only do I not have access to DS4Windows, I can't use Steam's controller configurations without breaking controller support outright, because Steam's controller support backend is a barrel of geriatric monkeys.

Huh, if you use big picture mode/steam overlay, you can adjust deadzone adjusting to any game with it, you dont need games support.

Also, the wiggle minigames for fishing just put the hurt on controller sticks. Usually makes me avoid using the hooks associated with them.

+1 on the deadzone option.

Would appreciate it as well! And I also would love some accessibility option for opting out of the wiggling stuff. Not that I personally am not able to do them, I just dislike tugging on my sticks so hard, can't be good for them.

Yeah same. THat Wiggle kills controllers eventually, so better not use it, if you have a quality controller you dont want to break for 1 game mechanic.

But Deadzone is totally controllable via steam overlay, a game doesnt need to have it, every game has it, if you set it via Steam overlay, its easy to do and can be done to every game on steam.

like others said u can use steam controller options for this. take a while to learn, profit for a lifetime

edit: only downside is that this game doesnt let u control button prompts/glyphs manually, and steam input turns psn buttons to xbox ingame, not so bad if you use a xbox controller, but with playstation its annoying

Sure, that's what I'm doing now. But I guess you can buy the game in other stores, GOG or Epic or whatever? For that alone it would profit from having a built in deadzone option.

I just found out that DtD seems to bypass Steam in that regard. I Have similar drift issues as described in this thread and I have it only with this game.
For testing I did check and set the deadzone in Steam _much_ bigger, it didn't even come halfway near to the edge.
Still the same issues in DtD :/
+1 here, older xbox 360 controller doesn't center well, causing Dave to keep swimming which makes him hard to control.
