Honestly, just removing this atrocity from the game would massively improve the overall experience.
I was having tons of fun, but this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss fight might cause me to drop the game entirely.
Please don't! I felt exactly the same, and was actively hating the game for a while, especially because I was so hooked on it, that I could literally NOT put it down. I tried, man. I really, really tried. But, that perseverance (ha) paid off eventually, and I came to absolutely love this very clever and beautifully thought-out game. The mechanics need work, for sure, and who knows? They may make a difficulty-scale as option in future for those of us needing that. They do listen and are planning to implement many changes, which obviously takes time; only been out a month. I'm telling you, once you get over that hump of a disastrous boss-fight...it really does become more rewarding, immersive, blah blah blah. I had to really adjust many things about how I normally play, and it does take me far longer due to that. So, I'm very cautious now, to compensate for my super sucky dodging skills.
Honestly, and this me actively NOT being a show-off/d*ck, the worst part of this fight, for me, was not being able to ''dash'' whilst carrying the barrels. And, I did find watching someones' channel on YouTube helped me get through it. Good luck, friend. :-)
Yes; I feel that perhaps the fact that I'd expected fire power to save me (sniper rifle, as I'm a cowardly player because I can't dodge well) was surprising. Once you get that 'this is what you must do, and hit this particular spot'...it falls into place. Still a bit annoying, Daves' lack of hustle. XD I really had trouble with Kronosaurus, due to similar mechanics. Died a lot during that one; there seemed to be three 'boss fights' in a short span...the Phantom Jellyfish was the worst for me.
Those two charms are 'must-haves', for sure.
if you take time to shoot the eyes so the thing stops moving the explosives despawn as soon as you get near them
if you swim up high enough to avoid getting hit then the thing runs 4x faster than you and you can't hit it
if you swim lower then the thing hits you and the explosive only hurts you
if you drop the explosives it just dodges them by moving way faster than should be possible
yes i have the movement charms equipped

this fight sucks. put it on the list of things to tweak. it's not hard, it's unfun and annoying. suggestions:
- make the explosives not despawn so fast
- make the thing's movement slower, at least when it is moving backwards
- make the thing take longer to turn around
