I use the steel net now. Capture the narwhal and drone him out for 27 narwhal meats that sell at almost 500g each when enhanced. I don't even need the other sharks, but the poledancer shark (pol-whatever in glacial zone) and greenland shark are still good value. I just fight them with whatever weapon boxes are around and then grab my net gun again to catch fish.
Is this not the case?
For killing Sharks and stuff Death Sniper can just 1 shot em sometimes.
But honestly you could beat every boss and enemy in the game with a regular Harpoon.
Beyond that you want to avoid sniper rifle like plague.
If you want to pew pew - as people mentioned go for basic upgrade of the basic rifle.
If you want to capture stuff - it kinda depends on your goal. Either fully upgraded tranquilizer for extra large stuff or steel net for small to somewhat large enemies.
Generally however - get 2 of each fish in aquarium and simply decide whom you want more from there and let it spawn more and more fish.
Ironically in end game simply skipping days instantly is BY FAR most efficient way of playing for a completionist... mostly because a lot of stuff is tied to days passing by.
And if you aren't completionist - just go for the pew pew basic rifle either basic or fire upgrades, it will carry you through everything game has to offer with 0 challenge.
wtf are you talking about? the time it takes to retract gives ordinary sharks a good shot at you. I don't understand how you could play this game and think you'd have a chance in hell at beating "every boss" with a harpoon. its max damage is 40.
I've been pretty happy just using the basic rifle with tranq upgrade so far. idk if that will change later in the game, but so far it seems like every situation is like "well do I want to have 2 more damage and 5 less shots?" or "well do I want to have 5 less shots and be unable to damage anything?" or "well this net gun is kinda silly..."
Any % chance tranq weapon is useful for capturing huge fish (the squeaky hammer is also % tranq). The super tranq gun is the best for consistent huge fish capture, but the tranq grenade launcher has some charm to it. Sleeping fish are 3 star.
The super net is the best all around fish gun. It captures huge piles of fish, it captures 3 star quality every time, and can even capture the weaker big fish for harvest.
