Please make button mashing optional
Button mashing (not quick time events, just the mashing) and stick wiggling ist terrible design if not optional for two reasons:
1) It excludes many people with disabilities from the game
2) It's never good for your body due to RSI etc.

The upcoming update will include an option to turn the button-mashing OFF!
Other quality-of-life updates will be included as well.

We are sorry that we couldn't bring this sooner to you guys. but we do really appreciate all the feedback that you've given us, either in this thread or anywhere else.

Here is the latest developer interview! Please check it out!

0) It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks and absolutely nobody enjoys it.

Protip: if you're playing on PC and haven't already, bind a macro that turbo-mashes the pickup key at least. It doesn't help with stuff like fire harpoons but it makes a lot of other stuff tolerable. It even helps with not having to slow down too much to use the bug net~

not only that its just jarring. Like you're just chillin, vibing out casually catching fish then its like ohshfdkjlsaidfspacespacespacespaceSPACESPACESPACESPACESPACE!...okay back to vibing.

since its a solo, non competitive game, i don't see the harm.

No harm in excluding players. Absolutely no harm in having pain when mashing buttons which doesnt add to the gameplay, which you cant disable.

i have a disability and could use a anti button mashing option...

Like most games that have these mechanics. Developers usually add in the options settings:
Button mash
Hold button
Press once

For those who don’t mind button mashing can then obviously keep it on. No point removing it entirely.
Mutton Bashing is great for controllers however my keyboard is less than pleased by the abuse. :)

PLEASE!!!!!

This is highly inconsiderate to people with special needs or wrist/hand issues. I'm just about ready to get the game refunded.

I'd like an easy mode for this suggestion, but also a hard mode. Maybe even hardcore? Give me perma-death Dave with all the mashing and way harder aquatic life....

Totally agree. I can't see that being fun for people with decreased mobility. Hell, I don't have any mobility issues and I find it jarring. Maybe swap the button mashing for a countdown, like 3... 2... 1... [press] or an option to slow down the button mashing/stick wiggling. I've literally broken a controller because of furious stick wiggling.

I understand the actions are supposed to simulate Dave's struggle against aquatic life. Those fishes can seriously fight back. It's just that sometimes I would prefer to not wake my family up from the loud button action.

Otherwise I do find the struggle quite immersive for his job.

There's been a topic already about redoing the mashing. The devs are aware and are looking into a way to make it better.
