Seaweed

I dont know what im doing wrong. I need Seaweed for a VIP dish and it says it grows between 50-130 and I have spent 20+ minutes swimming around that zone with no seaweed. Is its spawn bugged?

Seaweed grows at 0-50 for me. It's one of the rarer plants and only grows after a certain point in the story. Sometimes you will see a seaweed biome which can create more than usual seaweed, it appears toward the top of the blue hole.

Real genius advice. I found it at 32, which is nice, but maybe they should fix the quest tool-tips that are blatantly incorrect.

It's a lot taller and has more leaves than the other kelp bushes. It blends in really well and is more of a brown color.
I found mine growing in the shallows, on a tier near the top of the water where you usually find barrel jellyfish and yellow tang. I hope that helps.

20 hours into the game and I haven't seen 1 shred of seaweed. Does it start to appear after I complete something?

Ohhhh - seaweed is kelp and kajime ... yeah I've seen plenty of that!!! lol

To late stage gamers struggling with this, if you progress far enough in the religious fishman's quest in the village, he'll give you a seaweed seed. Take this to the farmer underwater, and he'll give you a bancho quest that highlights seaweed. Finish that, and you can actually grow underwater plants there.

For me it only started to appear after learning how to catch Tuna.
