Losing profits
For the last two nights, I've been losing money after serving sushi. I make sure to only sell my best items with 130+ flavor (+5 or higher). I am definitely not underserving, as I always have dishes left over. I have everything upgraded as much as I can. I have my staff as highly trained as I can afford. I just got to platinum, which affects the operation cost, but I'm making so little I can't afford to improve anything.

What exactly are you selling? Most of the dishes I had at platinum level sell for 375 each unenhanced. Enhanced they are worth way more. Even basic narwhal sushi, enhanced of course, sells for over 400 a piece.

At platinum level I'm grossing 20-25K a night from the restaurant, netting 20K is pretty normal now. Are you researching recipes and making the sophisticated items with ingredients and stuff?

I'll second what Ska.one said about ensuring you are using higher tiered dishes as I have 4 chefs in the "waiting room" doing nothing but dispatch missions to find/get some additional resources and I'm still making a profit each night. If you are trying to use the basic dishes then that might be your issue as I believe the game expects you to move on from those by mid/late game.

One of the easiest and best recipe I have so far is the 1 Starry Puffer and 1 Rice recipe—I have it enhanced to only level 4 and it already gives 418 gold per serving. Amazing.

It's called Stellate Puff Special Sushi. Starry Puffer are easy to catch with Net Gun and are found easily in shallows. Rice is grown for free and lots of it.

Jeez, clearly I am doing something very wrong. The best night I've had yet was tuna night, and that was only $10k. I always make sure to use at least one complex dish, the rest is my most expensive regular items, including narwhal. And all of those are upgraded multiple times. I have 6 employees on dispatch. Maybe that's part of the problem. I try to put at least 36-40 items on the menu a night, but I always waste food and people barely touch the high priced meals. I keep making the Michael Bang dish but people only eat like 3 out of 10 of them :(

I heard guests favor ordering foods with the highest taste value first. So if your cheap stuff has high taste and your expensive stuff doesn't, you'll end up wasting your expensive stuff.

I also don't think there is any penalty for selling only 1 or 2 types of dishes, so best you make expensive stuff and not add anything else to ensure you sell it.

That's your problem. Only put 1 item and set it to auto-supply for each menu slot. That way you CAN sell all of your inventory of that item, but if you don't, you're only wasting 1 instead of 30.

Yeah (agreeing with all previous posters), basically I put 3 or 4 fancy plates for one shot at 4-6 dishes for 400-600 each. Then I'm throwing 3-4 sushi pieces at 400+ per at one with auto-supply. Dispatch has normally been 3-4 staff. Profit is not a problem. I'm upgrading the farm and fish spot every day.
