How to best use the fish farm?
I got the fish farm, and the first two tanks are already full.

To be honest i have no idea what i'm supposed to do. I capture fishes with the net to 3* them, and the appear in the tank. But there's room for only so many fishes.

- Should i keep only 1 fish of each in the tank?
- Do the fish need to be in 'pairs' to reproduce?
- Why are some fish 2* and some 3*?
- When do I know I should 'sell' a fish rather than sending it to the kitchen?
- How do I 'swap' fishes so I can have one of everything in each tank?

Thank you. i tried to google tutorials but there's very little out there about the fishfarm.

I have not figured it out yet, but you can upgrade space for each room. Go talk to the man, he has a shop, here you can upgrade the rooms so you can have more fish.
I suspect later in the game, when we know what dishes we want to sell for good cash, you would fill your tanks with required fish. I don't know, for now I try to have max 10 of each

i'd like to see some automation to be set up here where you could farm the fish to the kitchen if the values get above xxx. I find this part of the game tedious.

Set up fish for expensive dishes you want to upgrade
Set up fish that don't show up rarely depending on biome. (i.e. devil fish)
Set up for biomes you don't want to revisit.
Set up fish that you want to sell directly for gold. (cliones sell for 75g each?! hmm)

How you should use it depends on what is your goal in game.

If your goal is to simply beat game ASAP - keep only the most expensive fishes and sell everything else to maximize profit.

If your goal is some completionism like every dish level 10 then you should always keep 2 of each fish(and more of the more rare ones if density allows) and send to kitchen the remainder., ideally 3 star and sell everything else. Once dish is maxed - you can butcher or sell the remainder of that fish if you wish.

The main trick is that as long as density is below 100%(99% or lower) - you will be able to multiply any amount of new fish just fine as there is no limit to how much you can overkill the density.
My record is ~320% density.

My usual daily routine is to check on fishes every morning and lower fish density to ~99% while making sure to keep 2 of each fish I need and for the most rare fish I try to let them stack to at least ~8.

Do 3 star fish breed more 3 star fish? If you sell all 2 star fish and leave the 3 star to breed will you get stead supply of nothing but 3 star?

From my tests the 2 stars seem to never produce 3 stars. Either that or they are super rare. Left some huge stacks of only 2 stars and they only ever produced more 2 stars.
3 stars can still produce 2 stars but seem to have chance for 3 stars.

I keep 2 of every fish, send everything else to kitchen (always keep 3 stars). Once recipes are maxed out you can start selling but I'm waiting til every recipe/fish is unlocked first.

I can't imagine maxing recipes that take items like salt, black pepper, curry block etc. The amount of resources you need to max any recipe that doesn't just take the basic fish would be insane.

I'm at the point I'm not caring too much about maxing dishes, I've already done a decent number so far and I'm just wanting to max profit.

Sent full tanks to the kitchen to reset (minus a few biomes) and I'll just look to collect rare species to breed.

It's not so bad with good dispatch stat allies honestly.

I do wish the game had some multi dispatch QoL however as watching the 'dispatch' picture for each ally separately is kinda annoying.

Does anyone know if the fish farm has any other possible/unconfirmed mechanics besides 3* fish producing more 3*? I'm specifically wondering whether keeping higher base numbers enables the fish to repopulate faster, or if it doesn't matter. I've been messing around with my Clione numbers trying to figure it out but I'm still not sure.

Yeah, a Dispatch All for certain ingredient. Or an Assign Dispatch for a selected ingredient that lets you add staff. In the end I focused on leveling up the two staff with dispatch skills and a couple others with high procure so that I only had to send a few people each time.

I just made a post about this yesterday. Would help to bump it.

Agreed, the game 100% need 'QOL' enhancement and automation. "Send everything that's above 2x 3* to kitchen* or the like. There's a lot of manual processes, some of which are meaningful (feeding the cat) , a lot of which are not (managing the fish farm).
