Later, it makes a triumphant return as a late-game money-maker with the curry recipe. By that point, it takes two hits to kill and you have the fish farm.
The rest I use whatever 375g+ recipe where I have surplus ingredients, and a lot of shark meats.
I agree with this. It has made the early game very satisfying. They swim slow and you can just knife it 5x, swim, knife 5x, repeat.
Currently on day 9 and made $1500 last night selling lvl 9 Parrotfish and *only* this. (Add 1 to the menu and set it to auto-supply and you won't have any waste.) Enhance as you can. If you upgrade your cargo capacity, you can get 40+ parrotfish per day without a problem as each fish gives 10 and there are 3 that spawn in the starting shallows. I just built a loop and gather everything else too. (Upgraded harpoon twice so catch the titan triggerfish as well without a fight and these are almost as good.)
Hired Tohaku and Billy already and will get El Nino tonight as I'm a few hundred short - have $2K.
-Easy to get a lot of them in your late-game wanderings
-Excellent value/weight ratio. By the time you are collecting these, you should have plenty
of swim storage to collect every one of these in the geothermal area, and they sell well if
you have excess (which you almost always do).
-Breeds like crazy in your fish farm without eating a huge amount of space in the farm zone
(even more excess to sell)
-Excellent high value recipe that utilizes one ingredient from each type (fish, farm, seaweed,
and dispatch) making the dish easy to level. The hardest ingredient is the black coral
which becomes much less of a problem once you get access to mimi's bladderwrack
dumplings to sweep the glacier areas for 10-15 units each dive plus seaweed farm.
Also, the recipe satisfies 2 of the 8 parties. (shrimp and cucumber) while being one of if
not the most profitable recipe to use for those parties.
