Where is the Hydrothermal Vents Seahorse?

There is a Red Seahorse that I've seen in seahorse racing. It lives around the Hydrothermal vents according to Marinica. However I have never seen one in all my time there. I know that for example the Leafy Seahorse comes up from minerals you mine sometimes, so I made sure to hang around mineral spots to see if they come up after mining. I sweep the entire surface of the Hydrothermal vents area and am yet to find them. This is the last creature I need to complete the non-GYAO Marinica.

It is a ruby seadragon and it comes from mining rubies.

I take it it's random chance? Everytime I've mined rubies I've never seen one. I guess I have to mine more Rubies.

Yes, after fully mining the rubies it appears roughly 20-25% of the time.

I have 42 rubies and I haven't seen a single one.. some people are just very lucky i think

I think we're being trolled. I have mined 50+ Rubies and have not seen such a seahorse. At this rate I'm likely to upgrade all fire weapons before I find it.

20% - 25% can't be correct. It's got to be more like 5% at this rate.

I got the Ruby Seahorse the first time i mined rubies but have been unable to get the leafy seahorse. its the last entry in my Marinica :'(

The leafy seadragon pretty mush plays in the same mechanics of the ruby one. The leafy can appear from the topaz, toramine, and aquamarine. Mostly it would be the weedy but a small chance it can be the leafy. If you enter the Glacier temple 1 there is a small chance of the weedy or leafy seadragon to spawn in the room where the ore node spawns. The area right outside of the glacier temple 1 can also have it (both on very rare occasions).

For those who still can't find the ruby seadragon, how long are you staying by the ruby node after mining? I've had times where the ruby seadragon would spawn 3-5 seconds after the mining of the ruby. It is still very rare for it to spawn though so staying after 5 secs would useless. I've mined over 20 nodes and have only caught 4 ruby seadragons. I have to agree that the ruby seadragon should get a better spawn chance.

I got a horse first time I mined rubies. Since then, not a single one. Definitely an RNG think so just keep trying when you're in the area. I find it more of an issue since there isn't always a ruby spot to mine.

I never posted here, that the funny thing was, I upgraded all my fire weapons before even finding 1. Always hung around for 5-10 seconds to see if they spawned.

I kept mining rubies, eventually I found 1, then the very next dive I found another, never saw one since.

So just to add my two cents here, I was also skeptical of the claim that the eco bracelet would have any effect here, but after what felt like days and days of post-credits diving and mining 20-30 rubies, I still hadn’t seen it.

Then my wife started using the dumplings that increase the “seaweed” yield (seems to increase chances of duplicates of any plant and ore yields) and she saw it pretty quick after using that a day or 2.

So I decided to finally just equip the eco bracelet and then got it the ruby seahorse to appear on the first day with it equipped. I’m sure it doesn’t make it a 100% certainty, but it’s possible the chances simply increase because perhaps there’s a diceroll for each individual ruby that gets mined to also spawn the seahorse, therefore the eco bracelet may actually increase the odds pretty decently.

It also may have just been a coincidence but i dunno…

Playing on the latest version on PS5 for what it’s worth.

As someone who used the eco gemstone bracelet consistently and also having a lot of time with it not used I can say this doesn't have a noticeable effect on chances of the Ruby Seadragon. They really are just rare, the best chances you got to get them quick is to learn the 3 layouts of where the drops/seaweed spawns and then head to the corresponding ruby spawn or in the case where it didn't spawn you know that almost immediately. If you're hunting it just give yourself as many chances as possible.
