I went it expecting "upgrade" game, but around the village it turns into basically a walking simulator
I laughed at the Cooking Mama segments, it was a nice break. Yeah, it leans more on mobile game design for its side activities, but I'm OK with that considering the novelty and rarity of those segments. It's like someone's first game and throwing in these homages to other games just to prove they could do it.
I think the achievement percentages may be skewed by Early Access. I only know of the game from 1.0.0 forward, but I could totally see "the next chapter" having not been available at some point, added later, and players haven't come back to it yet.
Seriously though, what are the rivers in the Sea People Village made of? Heavy Water?
You all didn't overload yourself on weight and then slowboat swim for their entire duration did you?
They should change a few things to make it more enjoyable to keep people playing.
For one, they should tell the player where the portal goes before the first time they click on it, and also where the left exit goes the first time.
Also they should let the player know that using the mirror from the village will end your dive. I assumed you could freely go between both without passing time, since it's an instant portal.
Maybe also limit the sidequests you get on your first trip to 2 and give you a free baluga ride all day that first day. Probably move the seahorse search quest to the day after.
Also the seahorse finding mission? WTF is that. Sooooo boring. I was like, sigh, I am not going into and out of each and every building in this town, looking for a seahorse. There is literally nothing but drudgery involved in a mission like that. No skill, no challenge. Just in and then out, in, and then out.
what made it even worse is that one seahorse is in upper level - you have to go through portal. but i didn't you know you could use the portal, since promt was missing. i spent sooo much time looking for that last seahorse. finally had to find guide online. not fun
