Weapon upgrades worth getting?
Any gun upgrade path worth making early on? I already have the tranq rifle, net gun at level 2 and hush pistol maxed which were useful. I got the quattro shotgun but it didnt seem that great with the bad shot spread and the extra bullet missing on sharks unless theyre vertical

Personally, I would try to max out the net gun to the steel one. It can catch the stargazers, spider crab, and sally lightfoot crab at three stars. Depending on how your play style is upgrading the ice gun can be pretty good to.

I enjoy using sniper rifles as they allow me to engage in attacks from a safe distance. The downside of sniper rifles is their limited ammunition capacity. Therefore, I opt for a poison sniper rifle, utilizing poison damage to reduce ammunition consumption.

Sniper rifle I've figured would have been nice for some of the bosses due to their attack patterns forcing you to have to dodge in and out of range of the normal rifle, plus later in the game some of the aggressive animals are very aggressive and will charge before you are in normal rifle range.

Stickybomb/grenade launcher are good for some of the later bosses for the arc on their attack and the damage per shot they can deal.

Normal underwater rifle path is good for general exploring.

Net gun and hush pistol are really good once you have them maxed to get the gold marinca cards and farming certain fish. So easy to do later game farming with them and the drone.

Best to figure what style of each weapon suits your playstyle the best if you want to add the elements
Try the Tranq Triple Axel . This thing is broken , it has 3x procs of 40% insta sleep and 5 ammo making it better than the actual tranq gun in most cases (not suitable for low hp fishes cos they just die , though you are probably better off using a net gun then since they can capture multiple fish at once )

Also its the perfect shark counter as you can usually hit all 3 projectiles since they are so big and after they sleep you can capture them alive if you have unlocked the drone or you can infinite stunlock sleep it till it dies since this gun also does loads of damage

Btw regarding Triple Axel spread shots missing on sharks , wait for the shark to lunge and move below their intended path beforehand , then hold the aim key for slow mo and when they pass over you , shotgun their exposed belly

I'm a boring Player in this regard.
My first Weapons to Max was the Netgun and Tranq Gun for my 3 Star Cards :-/
Just Harpooning my Bigger Fishes not shooting them.

A Few Bigger Fishes, like Marlins, Tuna and smaller Sharks can be caught in the Steel Net aswell, that means i just knife them when caught

Third Gun was a Tranq Grenade Launcher.... i dunno i just like getting 3 Stars i think^^

I only upgraded 3 guns. The net gun, hush dart, and the standard gun into a tranq gun (for getting those 3 star sharks before the fully upgraded hush dart became available). Yeah, I also like 3 star catches.

Otherwise, for bosses and for general shark killing, I just either used the harpoon or whatever gun I picked up in the area.

yep, was going to suggest this. this is prob better than the upgraded tranq gun to have on you as its the best of both worlds

Yea I only maxed Netgun then Hush Dart (had to farm a little more for Hush Dart) and I just bring the Tier 4 Hush Dart every dive for easier capturing of 3 Star stuff. I maxed out the Sniper Rifle too but there's really no need to upgrade any of the offensive weaponry, the boss fights give you guns to use and your Harpoon works fine for most of them.

Yea I got the shotgun tranq randomly and it seems to tranq 100% of the time. Is there any good guns for tuna hunting other than tranq/sensor net which needs drones? I tried the electric rifle which allows it to bounce damage to the other tunas however its pretty slow. Would the paralyzing guns be better to allow mash melee on them now I have fully upgraded knife?

Death Rifle - total game changer. OHK machine that does sick damage anyway even if you don't get the good roll (which still procs A LOT). With a mag capacity of 13 and insta-kill chance 30% of the time (or is it 40%? Either way it's a high chance), you can shark clear the glacial and thermal regions safely and effectively.

What mats do I need for death rifle? Already reached the glacial area but no luck getting enough fins for the second upgrade yet.
Just made the paralyzing sniper and its very easy to make the lvl 1 and 2 version, it does 100% slow down enough to land a lot of harpoon hits but trying to melee with the knife is pretty hard without getting hit. Though the dumpling melee buff makes it shred anything.

One of the stormy night boss parts (I want to say mantis shrimp tail, could have been something else) and topaz. Topaz is the grindy part - I only could find six pieces per dive session in the glacial area and you need 25. I also make it a point to grab the 3 emerald and 3 ruby pieces every trip now that I can - just in case.

The best gun for dmg is just the standard rifle upgrade path. Technically the flame is slightly better, but the ruby is very hard to get, and the difference is only 4 damage. Plus, the Death Rifle has a 30% chance to insta-kill any non-boss.
Getting the Steel Net gun and the Modified Tranq dart is a must. The Steel net is the only reliable way to catch some creatures, and the tranq dart is the easiest way to get pretty much anything else.

personally I love the shock sniper rifle
it was the first thing I enhanced

I shoot a shark once to get the paralyze effect (the slow with the occasional complete stun)
then swap to the harpoon knowing the paralyze effect will make the shark easier to fight
then shoot again with the sniper if the effect wears off
i stick to the harpoon for everything that isn't a shark (jellyfish, other fish, etc)

outside of bosses, me missing shots, or me just wanting to shoot a shark completely dead
the shock sniper rifle II rarely runs out of ammo going with that strat

Working on the tranq and net guns now for when inevitably allow to make the late game versions
