How do you catch the Silver titan Triggerfish?

are you using shock or paralysis? shock is the one that shoots lightning at other targets, i got it with a shock harpoon tip bouncing and electrocuting around it

Thank you I was using the shock tip not the lighting tip.

Same exact issue. "Shock Harpoon Tip" DOES NOT WORK!
Needs to be Lightning, NOT shock.
I ended up catching it with a steel net trap though, because I couldnt find a lightning weapon.

i tried using both, even after confirming on here to use the lightning tip and nothing is working? it just bounces off the damn fish and does nothing. i guess ill have to go look around for a net trap then.

You have to shoot fish around the triggerfish for it to hit

Lightning shotgun, lightning sniper, lightning harpoon tip - none of them do anything. This must be a bug? Even shooting fish around the silver trigger it doesn't take damage,

I tried lightning and shock, neither worked for some reason and I ended up getting it with a maxed net gun

The lightning damage is a % of the damage done to the target hit, so if the target has very little hp, like the fish around the triggerfish, it does no damage to it. If you lure the trigger fish down to the 50-130 depth, shoot higher hp fish near it, it does damage it and stun it after enough damage is done.

I had the same problem. I used the lightning sniper and lightning harpoon directly on the silver fish with nothing nearby and got no damage; the lightning has to bounce off another fish and come back to hit the fishmon for damage.

For anyone wondering, you can just use the steel net gun to catch him without any problem.

Yep, can verify that the Steel Net Gun works perfectly. I tried both the shock and lightning harpoon tips but they both bounced off his face. Not sure if you need to get him from behind or something, but the net gun works like a charm. OP af.

I used the tranquilizing grenade launcher. The steel net wasn't in the shop and I accidentally killed all the other fish around the target so the lightning couldn't trigger (small fish get pulled in w/o elemental proc) So give this a shot if you can.
