Sheepshead and Striped Catfish?
I've only seen these fish in one dive out of a bunch so far and I'm wondering if they're super rare or if I'm just a bit unlucky. Do they correlate at all to any days of the week/weather patterns/Depths layouts or is it just random? They're the only thing I really need from the Shallows anymore so it's a bit tedious to check it every dive in the hopes that these fish decided to spawn. Any info on these fishies?

They only seem to spawn when you have a seaweed biome spawn in the shallows

They only show up in one specific biome, and it's quite rare to see it.

the fish cards that you can check on your phone tells you where they spawn. those two fish appear in the seaweed biome.

unfortunately, for me at least, that biome is pretty rare. i managed to force it to spawn by diving and restarting the game until it finally popped up.

they only show up in the seaweed shallows biome, striped catfish come in great swarms of 20+ and will eat you alive if you don't have a netgun because they are swarming agressive little- anyways sheepshead are far less annoying to work with and around because they are about as fast as a Green Humphead if significantly more agressive.

Okies I get that they spawn in the seaweed shallows biome. I guess my question remains the same, just asking about potential triggers or correlations to having the seaweed shallows biome pop. The upgraded netgun's my go-to equip and I've caught a bunch of the catfish the one time I saw them. Just now I need to kill them for the invasive species environmental app dealy. That one's stuck in the Shallows when all the rest of my tasks are in the glacial area.

Good tip on restarting the game until it pops. So, if I dive and force quit the game, it'll put me before the dive and and the seed will be different on the next dive? I just kind of assumed it would boot me to after the dive just without anything I caught so I'd never tried it before.

I'm interested in the biome - where do you see this? All the app tells you is depth, it says nothing about biomes - by the way, I only ever heard about the biomes on forums, but there doesn't seem to be any distinction within the game, it just randomly generates them and I guess I just have to keep trying to dive into shallow waters every day, until I get the right one...

Upgraded knife can also defend against them quite efficiently

Use a trigger bomb for the striped catfish if Cobra has it. Sensor bomb is tricky because they are usually in areas with lots of fish activity.
