How to fight Mako Shark
Either i'm some having issues, but i'm suddenly fighting Mako sharks and these things are FAST without a scooter. what is the best way to fight these things without a shooter? i can't even out maneuver them without getting touched and taking a whopping drain to my air.

I always wear the squid accessory that gives a burst of speed like an "oh ♥♥♥♥" dodge button paired with another accessory that boosts gun dmg. Also, always eat the dumplings that gives you 8% speed boost, it helps a lot.

If you're having trouble with it, swim away in a straight line then use the dodge accessory to avoid its charge. The only time I had a problem with it was when it clung on me like it's just swimming towards you when it detects you instead of its usual attack pattern, I had to swim away when it does that. Swimming around in wide circles also help coz it can't turn fast enough at least in my case it does that.

If all else fails, aim faster, bring bombs if you find any. I only have my fire rifle lv2 most of the time but I'm doing better against it than narwhals.

man im using the tranq rifle with the weapon dam boost and the octopus dodge ring and i cant do a thing about these mako. If they get on me they don't stop charging. I dodge i circle i dash i swim it doesnt matter what i do. and when i do manage to get a tranq on them. half the time the game glitches out when i try to send in the drone (only showing q for a quarter of a second and then dissapearing) and im stuck standing in front of a pissed off mako when it wakes up.

The upgraded dart gun takes two shots and puts them to sleep (requires end game).

Hide behind walls and floors, whatever you have as cover. As soon as you know what it is, just go around a floor and point your weapon at the corner. Take a shot when the nose pokes around in sight and then do your best to repeat it once it's on you again.

Also the sprint +30% trinket can be really helpful. Also can help if you have both a scooter and an oxygen refill ready, and know where your closest oxygen item is on the map.

Honestly going by the horror stories I heard of Makos I thought they'd be even worse than Threshers or Hammerheads which can be quite the pain to deal with, but my first few run ins with Makos were a breeze. Yeah they're fast but they're straight shooters which makes them easy to predict and run circles around, you just gotta make sure you maintain distance and only approach + attack it from angles and its sides, never when it faces you head-on unless you know for a fact you will kill or tranq it before it can hit you.

As long as you're not weighed down and you have the dash charm, they're a piece of cake compared to Threshers.

This.
Get a Sniper rifle, upgrade it (either damage or tranq, or both for bosses and capture ^^ ) , nothing will be an issue anymore.
I see threads about people having issues with Klaus... It was dead before it could attack with the last damage Sniper rifle in 5 bullets.

I wondered this for a while myself. They only pop up when you get the 'Storm Shark Party' event which sets the next 3 days to storm weather and makos will appear in the shallows, typically on the right side but they can be in the center as well. I'm taking my time with the story and grinding stuff out so I'm not quite at endgame yet, but it took 2+ weeks ingame to get the event for me, so it might take a while for you too.

Edit: far as I can tell they appear after this event too, like other event fish.

For all sharks I used a tranq triple axel or whatever it's called. I slept and droned when I could. And when I couldn't. Without a scooter or the dash accessory (I use the harpoon and gun accessories). I let them dash at me and I go below them and shoot up. Take your time.

For me the most annoying fish were the Long-nose Shark, Narwhal, Thresher. Spicy little bastards.

Threshers are nasty... Since they are small and fast they like to latch on and can smoke your O2 in a few seconds easy.
