I run into the same problem, operation cost went over 2000 after I got platinum. So confused, did you find out how to avoid this?
Like if I got 4 extra customers from ranking up my Cooksta and my operation cost goes up 2000, if I average 500 for my dishes I break even. If I have 1000 coin dishes, I come out ahead.
It isn't but when I ranked up to platinum I was only earning 6k so it cut my profit by a third.
Platinum is too expensive early on.
Progress the main story quests before ranking up. Unlock your gear and apps before Cooksta-ing up. I know it's tempting, but slow and low is the name of the game <3
It still isn't great that the game doesn't tell you this. If I knew I would lose a decent part of my profits from leveling it up I probably would have waited (a bit). I just checked the "rewards" page and there is nothing that tells you that upgrading has downsides as well.
It's not the end of the world but it felt bad to me to work toward an upgrade and then not immediately get value from it. During nights with boss food or during events it's definitely already worth it but if I go night fishing it eats up way too much.
Ok, getting to platinum BEFORE unlocking tuna is maybe a really bad idea, tho...
