Where did the Atlantic bonito go?
After the official release of the 28th edition, I can't see the Atlantic bonito in the waters in the middle of the Blue Cave.

I think it comes and goes. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. Same with the marlin and sailfish. I caught several earlier but can't remember in what depth, probably around 40 to 60m?

Same here, I have definitely caught it once (after the 28th), but have not seen a single one recently.

I think this might be a bug in the map generation? If you progress after a certain point, some species are added, and some accidentally goes "extinct" or "near-extinct"?

I'm coming up on day 40 and I've never found an Atlantic Bonito, only found out the name from the Curry Recipe.

Same. Literally followed every guide and no sign of it anywhere near the sunken ship or below the Limestone Caves - re-started 7 times to look at each biome and nothing. Got every other fish in the Marinca and know what I am doing, so this is odd.

the bonito is a hard fish to catch. not because it's a rare spawn, but because it looks very similar to two other fishes, likely you have been having them spawn but got them confused with one of the other species of fish that look similar.

I literally cleaned all the fishes from 70m - 130m. No bonito in sight..

This was the last one on my list. It looks similar to the Atlantic Mackerel so it can get a little confusing and I believe they only spawn in one type of map variation. But if you see the Striped Red Mullet nearby, it means the Atlantic Bonito has spawned. Just catch those silvery-bluish fish and you'll get it. They travel in groups.

I was having trouble with this one too. I'm on Chapter 6 and just wanted two bonito roe for the fish farm. Did at least 10 morning and afternoon dives looking for it with no luck and definitely wasn't mistaking it for other fish because I checked by harpooning anything similar. It did finally spawn, it just took forever. It looks a little slimmer & more streamlined than the atlantic mackerel and spawns in groups of 2 or sometimes 3.

If the bonito does spawn, catch them all then enter & leave the shipwreck to make them respawn. I don't know if that works multiple times, but I only did it once and managed to get 6 bonito roe in one dive using the hush dart.

I think this is what messes me up, since if I think I already caught it I don't bother with it unless I need it for something. I've probably swam by it countless times already. lol

Same for me:
The Atlantic Bonito seems to have stopped spawning, but also the following species in the Blue Hole Medium Depth:
- Bluehead Tilefish
- Striped Red Mullet
- Mackerel Scad (I may have seen but confused it for another species)

Yeah I had a very similar run as that before ^

The fish will return in a week from the day they disappeared. Sometimes fish disappear for an entire week for some reason.

Sometimes save-scumming can get them to return and sometimes not.

… and sure enough, the next run after writing this, I found all the missing species, and also *one* (?) Atlantic Bonito…

They were high in the Blue Hole Medium Depths, around 50-70m deep, on the left side, in the approximate area around the shirpwreck.
