I think this might be a bug in the map generation? If you progress after a certain point, some species are added, and some accidentally goes "extinct" or "near-extinct"?
If the bonito does spawn, catch them all then enter & leave the shipwreck to make them respawn. I don't know if that works multiple times, but I only did it once and managed to get 6 bonito roe in one dive using the hush dart.
I think this is what messes me up, since if I think I already caught it I don't bother with it unless I need it for something. I've probably swam by it countless times already. lol
The Atlantic Bonito seems to have stopped spawning, but also the following species in the Blue Hole Medium Depth:
- Bluehead Tilefish
- Striped Red Mullet
- Mackerel Scad (I may have seen but confused it for another species)
The fish will return in a week from the day they disappeared. Sometimes fish disappear for an entire week for some reason.
Sometimes save-scumming can get them to return and sometimes not.
… and sure enough, the next run after writing this, I found all the missing species, and also *one* (?) Atlantic Bonito…
They were high in the Blue Hole Medium Depths, around 50-70m deep, on the left side, in the approximate area around the shirpwreck.
