Can't catch tuna

The tuna event is coming up, and I've been supplied with the large-net bomb and the mini-sub to pick up the catch. On the first try, you get the tutorial, which worked fine. The tuna triggered the net-bomb and the sub picked it up.

However, every attempt I've made since then by using the net-bomb from the shop, the tuna just ignore the bomb. They swim right over it without triggering it. I tried waiting a bit but nope, they are not triggering it.

No idea what's wrong, I guess I'll just skip the event.

Same here. The net bomb caught another small fish that got in the way so I dunno what the problem is.

nets didnt work for me either, but you can still shoot/harpoon freely and just loot them like a regular fish, takes a bit longer, watch their path, and wait off to the side taking potshots

Can tuna be hypnotized? If so, perhaps we could try using a sleep grenade launcher.

I've experienced this as well The net bomb will not go off for the tuna. I've tried multiple times. I've also tried shooting the tuna with multiple weapons to no avail.

Do you unlock the mini-sub eventually so that you can use it during normal fishing? Is it something you buy at Cobra before missions? Even from the start of the game you get a symbol that you don’t have the mini-sub if you sleep a big fish.

OMG lost my marbles trying to set off that bomb! Same issue here and it’s infuriating m, wasted two hours on this!

I had more success with automatic net bomb rather than the remote triggered one.
The problem is, it's random stock in Cobra's shop.

What worked for are me poison weapons, camp near their path, shoot em with poison until they die. Get 2 of each, breed em and never run out of tuna ever again (they fetch a hefty price too).

I am just an idiot, but how do you deploy the nets/bombs again? it doesn't seem to show up as a tip on how to do it once you finish the tutorial

Edit - nvm I figured it out, I was being an idiot as predicted

The toy hammer seems to work. You'll probably get hit by the tuna while trying to squeek it to sleep but you'll get a three star fish. And of course it's RNG if you can find it, but if you keep looking at the boxes closest to surface level there's bound to be one during the days leading up to the event.
However you still NEED to have a drone ready. Without the drone you can't get it to the surface.

dont know if this will help but you can directly kill the tuna, used the grenade launcher III, I can catch the whole school of tuna within two full clips if I get good spread shots.

I too, had the same problem with the nets not opening. Can verify that you can harpoon/shoot/whatever does damage the tuna though. I caught several dozen in the few days leading up to the Yacht Party. Mostly sniper rifle and harpoon. All 2 star of course. Seemed like there was always a school of 3 bluefin and then 2 schools of 5 yellowfin.

Add a +1 to me. I can catch Tuna if I attack them with my harpoon, but I can't get the net bombs to go off either.

Dear Mr. Idiot, can you tell how?

Bottom of the screen when you switch to it it should tell you what key to deploy (Y on my controller....same key that you use the Oxygen-bottles with)

My solution: I use tranq rifle (rifle upgrade)
Shoot until Tuna is sleeping then use drone:) hope this helps
