Please stop making me mash the buttons.
When I spear a fish, I can't mash a button quickly. I have a permanent injury in my hands. Please add an accessibility option to let us change this.

Please be nice to each other since everyone is here because they enjoy the game. Everyone is awesome and we hope it stays that way. Thank you for all the support and hopefully we'll have some good news for everyone.

The option to replace mashing with a long press or whatever is a pretty common accessibility option and should be present IMO.

I really love difficult games, but physical difficulty shouldn't be mandatory when a simple alternative exist. We're not talking about something difficult like making the game accessible to blind people.

I tested the game by... other means (actually didn't know it existed before that lol)... and really loved it, and plan to buy it once released, but the harpoon mashing forced me to create a macro wtf. And I have no issue on games like street fighter or other rapid input situations, I'm just not able to mash repeatedly that hard anymore.

I like the minigame versions. The mash A one is definitely my least favorite.

A minigame where you have to stop a moving bar in a green center tile for a successful catch would indeed be a better fit

APPROVE! :steamhappy:

I fully agree with this; I've got some struggles in joints due to poor health that makes it very hard to do the button mashing, rotating the joystick, etc etc minigames for the harpoons.

If we could have an option to disable those in favor of just holding a button or something, I think most people who play would appreciate it

Just want to throw out, I like all the other types of minigames, but yeah. Mashing on my space bar is a bit annoying cause I have a mechanical keyboard and it's super loud

Personally don't like any of em myself, the rapid repetitive actions are really hard on my hands, but if there was an option to fully disable them and one to change them to a button hold (or a small QTE?), I think that'd be fine for everyone involved.

Just some choices other than "Do it or suffer" basically

please no mashing

I'm all for a "disable button-mashing minigames" or other accessibility option!

I'm 41 and I can't button-mash like I used to; it's physically painful now and hurts my joints/wrists. I could do this when I was in my 20s playing Battlefield 2... not anymore XD

I'd love to see a timing/single-click rhythm option, or an option to disable the button-mashing "minigames" altogether.

i'm fine with the amount of mashing i have to do in this game but i am 100% behind an accessibility option. as well as a widescreen option. and an early release date.

Physical problems aside, mashing buttons is an uncreative and annoying gameplay mechanic that's basically from the 90s. I don't think there's anybody who finds repeating hitting a button fun. Even high input games, like street fighter that was mentioned, aren't just repeatedly hitting the same button, you're supposed to hit different buttons based on what your opponent is doing and to do combos.

mashing the spacebar is not great. its noisy and unnecessary. there must be a better skill check

The button mashing requirement is the one thing that put me off an otherwise really great game (problem with my arthritis in hands).
