I think that's one of the big things that makes this grating: it's this very chill, relaxing game and suddenly I need to start mashing my various buttons and joysticks.

My least favorite as well. I just can't with the spacebar on a mechanical keyboard when my wife is asleep. And it's just really annoying to be forced to button mash in the first place. Maybe make it a rhythm game to tap whenever a rotating pointer reaches the top of its orbit?

My problem is less with the mashing and more with the popup where you have less than a second to push two specific buttons. I can't react fast enough. PUSH L to the right + B!!!!!! Doesn't help that I'm on Steam Deck and the text is a bit too tiny already.

Agreed. My hand's nerve damage can make mashing difficult, i was able to get around this by rolling my hand over my space bar. Defo needs an accesibility updat

I personally have some minor problems with my fingers, which makes button mashing a bit annoying. I strongly support finding a different kind of minigame

I need to support this as well. I accept that some people don't mind them or actively like them, but they work badly with my specific physical issues (e.g. arthritis and nerve damage) and this makes the game noticeably less approachable for me. I strongly would prefer an option to disable them - just "turn off fishing QTEs" so that for those who don't want or have trouble doing them, that particular barrier can be removed. Don't mind if it's not the default - not offended by it being in the game, just problematic for me for it to be required in the game.
