Hi sorry about the inconvenience. I believe it's an anti-virus related issue. Would you mind turn off real-time check up in your anti-virus system and try again? You can turn it on once the game is launched. Thank you!

Hey @Cobra, I turned off the real-time anti-virus system and re-downloaded the game, but it still reports "failed to load il2cpp". Why?

Hi everyone, suffering from this issue. We checked with Unity and looked up related issues and I think you can try :
#1. Reinstall vc-redist
#2. Whitelist vc-redist folder and files

I'm afraid both or either one should work.

Something is blocking or preventing your rig from automatically install and acquire required component to run the game.
Most are from bad update of anti-virus, tweaked setting/patched or hacked OS and... so on.

Does Game Dev have some kind of user access right to access your PC and personally fix those kind of things for you, no? They can at best point out what yours problem is.

The fix is simple, either find and fix the root of the problem or skip it by just manually download and install the required component yourself. Cheers

Hi @Cobra, I have the same issue as well. And I tried both of your solutions, but neither installing the vc-redist nor whitelisting it worked out. I also tried turning off the realtime protection, but no luck.

Is there any other solution?

Additional info: I am trying through a Windows 11 VM via Parallels on a Mac. I'm seeing more people that have this setup and having the il2cpp issue.

Same here I did download all the VC-redist direct from Microsoft and disabled virus scanner. No luck.

Assuming that you didn't use any junkware that break windows registry which mess up and break minor things such as this topic nor having problem with the installation of the core component.

Game is recommend to run on windows 10 64-bit. You're on Mac OS using a virtual machine, Maybe worth to try by creating another VM build of windows 10 version?
As Windows 11 itself is not quite stable depends on which build and update you're in and some third party software installed on it can break smaller things even further.

Would've loved to make a Windows 10 VM, but Parallels unfortunately only offers a Windows 11 VM and Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10 ARM. So I don't have that option.

Would love to know if there is a way to play this game on the Windows 11 VM.

If you have already installed Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp, you can set Parallels Desktop to run Windows from the Boot Camp Partition or import Windows and your data from Boot Camp into Parallels Desktop as a new virtual machine."

You can get a hand of win10 iso from many source just google it. Then install it using Boot Camp. Do check the pre-requisite first whether you meet the requirement.

Thanks for the advice, but that isn't working for me since I have a Mac with an M1 chip. So the Windows system that I run through Parallels is also an ARM version. Perhaps that could be the problem?

For all M1 Mac users going through Parallels, I can confirm that that is the problem. I have tried it on my old Intel-Mac through Parallels and even on Windows 11 the game runs fine. So I guess the game is not supported for Windows running through the ARM architecture. Hopefully this can be fixed in the future!

played the game without issue yesterday when I bought it but this morning it will not launch. Have tried verifying, running as admin, reinstalling, turning off antivirus, reinstall vc-redist, whitelisting redist. I am running windows 10 64bit and the game ran perfectly no less than 8 hours ago.
