Escape pod

Is there any negative to using the escape pod? I assumed it would use more time or you'd lose some items, but as far as I can tell.. it's the same as going all the way up to the boat manually?

oh yes it works as intended, maybe it will get change later,
but for now its just a faster way up

I had the same concern (everyoen does i think - the game should make it clear).

There is NO drawback - it just 'takes time' so it's not for combat. But by mid game, chapter 2 onwards in fact depending how fast you progress, it will become the fastest 'way up'.

i feel like the escape pod was the devs way of making the came more sandbox-y/relaxed rather than so... intimidating? i tend to only use the escape pod in dire situations where i'm super low depth wise and my oxygen is running low.
