How to get out of giant squid cave

How do I get out? The exit to the left keeps pushing my character to the right and Dave says, "hmm this is not the right way", but there are no other exits?

Edit, I just went into inventory from esc menu and pressed tilde (~) and abandoned all items to get out. When I re-attempted it, it gave me the cutscene needed to successfully complete the stage, so definitely bugged.
The only thing I remember is not using the rifle, but used a different weapon when it bugged, maybe that caused it?

for the sake of not spoiling much: maybe there is still something you need to do in the cave.

I'm at that same exact spot with the same exact issue, I just haven't resorted to abandoning directly yet. I got a trophy from the fight and I want to make sure I don't lose that!

i didn't use the weapon found in the cave either, so not sure that's the cause.

if i defeated the squid, the mermaid not apears and i trapped in this hole

i actually ended up closing the game and replaying that portion. i made sure to use all items in the area just in case that was part of the bug, and it worked then. glad to hear it's likely been fixed as well for first-time players. love this game.

I can confirm that if you use attribute weapon (specifically the sleep one) it will not prompt you to harvest correctly (was able to reproduce the bug twice :') ). Safe to just use no attribute weapon when killing the boss.

I've completed it twice now, and still gltches for me. I can leave the cave, but when I exit, I can't view any of my equipment. when i extract, none of the button prompts appear and I dont get credit for what i extract with

If you ever get stuck in a room with a boss that you might have done tranq/sleep damage to and it won't let you harvest it (you get a red cross with a submarine) you can harpoon the body until it dies and then harvest it.
