You can also force fish to swim away from you into another group of fish. I actually made impressive catches with the net.
On top, you get 3 star fish, yielding more fish for sushi than with harpoons/guns.
I love the net.
Only thing I would love to have is an upgrade for more ammo. 3 nets per load is a little low :D
Maybe something to add to the middle slots eventually.
I do try to make the fish groups gather but the time it takes is finally counter balanced by the time it takes to shot them one by one - more or less.
Keep trying and practicing!
I did not see the interest of the net either at the beginning.
But it will be even more useful when you advance in the adventure and unlock new features
Even with a fully upgraded harpoon, there's some smaller fish that still need button mashing which are an insta-catch with the net gun. Always 3 stars too, so more meat per catch.
I think the game needs some major optimisation before we start adding more fish, tbh =p For what it is, it can really chug. If you can play GTA5 at near locked 60, this shouldn't be dipping just below 30 at times.
games perfect shush
There should be some additional debuff effect for eventually achieving a Large Net-Gun.
Such as, slow, or paralysis akin to being caught in a fish-net and struggles a moment to get free.
Small are the really small ones, those who are annoying to catch with a harpoon. Like Clownfish, Comber or Cardinal Fish.
Medium allready is stuff like Blue Tang, Striped Catfish and the Jellyfish.
Large than is the rest, which you can theoratically catch without slicing them in pieces.
Everything you need to slice up is "oversized" and can't be catched other than through killing.
I just checked back in my game and I had no issues cathing a Tiger Triggerfish, Dusky Grouper or Atlantic Bonito with the net gun.
And for the swarm of Catfish you can encounter alone the netgun is more than worth it :)
That to make fishing between 0 - 50m more enjoyable.
Yes some people said you can play to gather/lure them. Not my trick tbh.
I would rather like a reloading feature, or eventually a click-hold system with some "gauge of accuracy" - the greater click-release in the green area, the larger the net would be.
And it would be mandatory to catch a large fish (I dont mean the bigest ones)
That, together with a reload feature, could add to the game:
Lets say:
3 magazines of 3 ammo
Max net size = uses 3 ammo
Medium net = uses 2 ammo (leaving 1 small net in magazine)
Small net = 1 ammo
This system wouldnt hurt the current game coding about fish population between 0-50m, would add some game mechanics, and make the fishing gameplay, between 0-50m/100m and to catch larger fish, more enjoyable (in my very humble opinion).
Cheers
That's what I noticed too; it's frustrating because I originally really liked the gun and ground out the resources to upgrade it and completely stopped using it after they did nothing
