Playing with two players will allow you to use the whole range of multiplayer features. That's a big help and you can probably organise a two-player team better than if you were four around the board :D
In any case, Baladins is not THAT hard (do not expect anything like Dark Souls here), we are pretty confident you can succeed in progressing in the game even solo. But playing with a friend will indeed bring a new flavor to the game. The hardest part, in the end, is to find the right teammate.
