Controller support on steam deck

Hi!

Somehow I can't get the controller to work on the deck while it works perfectly on the base game. Has anyone else had the same problem and knows a fix?

I get the exact same behaviour as you, Nanox. That is both in gaming and desktop mode.
Is the build of the game that is used for Downfall different than when running the base game? Wondering since Steam Input support was added the base game only fairly recently.

Yeah. I reported this on the official Downfall Discord, but nobody there seems to have a Steam Deck atm. I hope that there will be more interest in this once somebody gets a Deck there.

In the meanwhile, to bridge the time, I created and shared a community controller configuration that uses mouse and keyboard controls to mimic the StS controller layout as best as I could. It's not perfect and still requires a lot of mousing but at least in combat it works well enough for me. It's called Gamepad-like mouse'n'keyboard layout . Check it out if you like.

I didn't try it yet, but shouldn't it be the same thing as controller support on PC? I'll install Downfall on my Laptop later and see if it supports controllers in general.

Well, in theory. But there are loads of moving parts at work with system libraries, Steam input and game engine support. And Megacrit has seemingly not concentrated their QA efforts on Linux gamepad support earlier.

When I tried StS and Downfall on my Linux gaming desktop earlier, I got other kind of faulty controller behaviour. But I guess I should try again with the latest builds.

Default controls give the feeling no input works period. I put in a report on ProtonDB, the only workaround right now is to change your controls to mimic a mouse using the touchpads and you will need something assigned as left click. It's really odd, even the config screen shows the proper layouts from the standalone original game, but it refuses to take gamepad input.

Deck controls work fine on the Steam Workshop version. However the ModTheSpire launcher is buggy, appears black but starts flickering when you click or scroll. If you can successfully navigate it in the dark, game works once you can launch it. Good luck cause it's tricky lol, especially if you have a lot of mods subscribed to try to search through until you find BaseMod, StSLib, and Downfall.

This doesn't seem to work either - Slay the Spire "with Mods" mode is broken and gives a black screen behind a flickering Mod loader screen that barely (if at all) functions.

Bumping this to see if the devs are willing to give this a test on a Steam Deck and get it working, as it was one of the reasons I was excited to get a Steam Deck so I could play this mod on the go.

When I click Play through the black screen, an error message I cannot read is popping up and the game will still not load. The only MODS I have installed are ModtheSpire and Downfall. Am I missing a mod that makes this work? I can briefly read the word "dependency" on the error message, but I can't make out what I might be missing.

EDIT: There were a few mods (like STSLib and BaseMod) that I didn't have, so I believe it's working now. Thanks!
