Dragonkin: The Banished

Dragonkin: The Banished

First impressions
After the demo I decided to give this game a chance to see how it will play from the scratch and make progress vom level 1 on.

I want to share some feedback on the first ~7 hrs from my *personal* point of view:

- Game is actually fun. The combat feels good.
- Game is looking very nice for my personal favor.
- The music is fine, but can get a little bit repetitive because...
- ...the maps are way too big.
- The active skills (played only the oracle until now) are not good balanced. Some of them cost WAY too much mana for what they do.
- Mana regeneration (playing oracle) is way too low !!!
- Are there only lightning skills in the game? Why don't I get skills like a fireball for my mage?
- There isn't a real minion/summoner class in the game. Yes, I know, there are some skills but they look terrible, are weak and do nearly nothing. I want a summoner class with a full army of permanent minions.
- Enemies deal WAY too high damage. Playing on mid / normal - so the standard difficulty and died plenty times within the first act (?) - come on...
- Item progression does not feel good. I find mostly white items, very few blues, not a single yellow one. Equipping better items has no impact in your strength.
- The skill modifiers: Sorry, when I have to say it but... they are boring. They are weak. You can actually don't use them at all and you have the same game. => Modifiers should have a BIG (!!) impact on your playstyle. Like having a second beam, a much bigger skill radius, I don't know.. but having -3% energy cost or -2% cooldown.. you just don't need it at all.
- The wyrmling is a cool idea but they are also not strong enough. And they should have a standard attack so they attack the enemies even when you put your hand away from the mouse.
- Attribute system (char and wyrmling): Feels like that systems also have nearly any impact on your strength. I put ALL my points into intelligence but I don't feel much stronger. Milestones could have a better impact on your strength.
- Game is running very smoothly without any lag or crashes.

As I said, just my personal point of view.

I am excited to see what they do with the game.
I think it can be the base for something great.

Cheers

Ya the pacing is pretty atrocious, and this is mainly things you said like the levels being too large, the "common" skill fragments doing effectively nothing, stats not having much impact, and the game not wanting to drop anything above common for 20 levels. I spent like 10 hours playing and never felt like my character got any stronger. If anything it felt like I was getting weaker, especially with the enemies scaling to my level, and it started turning into a real chore to continue playing. If they can get the pacing fixed, the combat is good enough for this to become something solid. I don't know what they are going to do about progression though, there's basically no buildcraft at the moment, so there's not going to be any replay value.

Can I ask if the optimisation has improved since the demo? I'm aware that the game runs fine for many people, I'm just looking for any concrete evidence that the EA has better performance than the demo one.

Also, is there a reason that everyone I watch on twitch/youtube is playing the barbarian? Is it obviously stronger than the other chars?

Thanks

Cool game, it's like a old version of last epoch, need a lot of improvements but it's playing well enought (archipelago look great).
