How to turn off fog of war

I started a new game with fog of war off, and most of the map is still blacked out, however when i watch youtube videos, people can see the whole map, what am i doing wrong?

The fog of war can be turned off for the tactical battle map.
On the strategic map, you can once other nations become your allies.
Also are the youtube videos you are watching from a long time ago, e.g. several updates ago?

Oh yeah they are so i guess its part of the update. Also does the ai attack or declare war on the player?
