How I managed to survive as a new player
First couple of tries, I got completely wrecked. So here is what I did, as a newbie, to prevent that.

New game >> Global Campaign >> Choose Arvik (Democracy) (that gives you an island start) >> Number of troops -> max >> troop level -> max >> Resources -> max >> Rebels -> low >> Alliances on >> Resource Management Easy >> Starting Year 2027 >> Penalty player min >> Penalty AI max >> Vision player max >> Vision AI min

Make sure in the gameplay settings that the enemy is always highlighted. Huge help in the beginning.

First attack the rebels -> fight manually -> take your time, don't rush in.
After that I combined my forces at the 2 cities in the east, maxing them out to a 30 Stack. I put all vehicles in those battallions.
Make sure you drag and drop a M163 Vulcan on the first spot, so you spawn in that vehicle.
Now set up your production an research and wait for your neighbor to attack. Try to intercepts his first troops. Fight manually. Slowly move your troops in at map view and try to snipe the enemy with your vulcan gun (can also destroy tanks).
Refill your losses with the leftover battallions and take the enemy cities.
Because you cant produce the ammo of your tanks and attillery yet, make sure to disband them once they have 0 ammo. Sell the vehicles on the global market later. Make sure you drag and drop the vehicles to the top which have the most ammo left.

This was still hard for me as a newb but I managed to conquer the whole island and I hope I can now peacefully create my own battallions and get the industry in order.
After that Ill try to deactivate that the enemys are always highlighted.

My biggest issue is that the player squad AI is brain dead, they get up and move when you tell them to prone and hold position, vehicles blindly charge into infantry etc.

One of the main reasons i stopped playing. If AI is not worked on, this game is dead.

Not every decision we make regarding Ai is good, but we are trying to improve it.

The fact that you are here listening to people so don't take anything personally. I like the game so far and can't wait for it to develop into something awesome. However, the OP is right: in later years of my campaign, all factions have 25+ stack armies, with everyone having the latest tanks. It's so hard, and I play on easy. I feel that needs to be addressed, but I know it's a game in development, so I can't truly complain about anything. The concept is awesome, and I'll definitely be watching its development.
