If you have a large facility and want to separate rooms to prevent heat from spreading, you can create a 1-tile wide outdoor gap between the two rooms. You need an employee with the Expert Construction skill and you can use one of 2 outdoor tile types to demolish the foundation and create a gap.
About making rooms, is it expected that noise is transfered between them as if there were no walls ? I wanted to have a single map with 2 rooms, one for office space with researchers and one with the racks but the noise is ignoring the walls. I tried with 1,2,3 and 4 wide gap between rooms but they seem to have 0 effect.
Yeah, the noise ignores the walls. I had a version that computed it properly, but it worked really slow in large/complex facilities. This is before I had efficient algo for temperature, so those two combined made the game crawl. I decided the simplify the noise computation as it was less important.
Now that temperature is computed more efficiently, maybe I will rework the sound spreading once again in one of the future versions.
Hello, How can I play Africa scenario if I can't mine because of the noise?
For example, you can pause mining to research and then stop research to mine. Or you can try to use Quiet PC case to keep the noise down. Figuring out how to balance that is the whole challenge of the Africa scenario.
