7 Days to End with You

7 Days to End with You

Something I realized about 612.
What an amazing game. I really got attached to that person and wish I could've spent more time with them. There's still so much to talk about...

Anyway, spoilers ahead. Discussion about the story.

So there are 4 endings in the game right (at least that we know of right now).
1. Normal end
2. Accept sins (612)
3. Punish the sinner
4. Both die

In everything except the first ending, the cycle breaks.

If you get the first ending, an extra black square is added to the note upstairs and the contents of the journal remain. Meaning that she just brought you back to life. Every other ending resets the black squares and the journal.

If you choose the second ending, you keep on living but she cryptically says "612".

For a while I've been wondering what 612 was and whether it was some secret code. But seeing the calendar change to 6th month made me realize something.

First of all, the game has lots of references to god, theology, and resurrection.

The person you play as has the name "Robert Boyle". There was a real life person with the same name. A renowned scientist of the past who also looked into Theology.

Theology is the study of god.

In relation to his studies on Theology, he wrote a book called "Some Physico-Theological Considerations about the Possibility of Resurrection" (1675)

Furthermore, the person's name is "Theo" if you decipher the text.

This could be referring to Theo trying to be a god by constantly resurrecting you.

The game is also called 7 days to end with you.

Now, I'm not religious so I could be getting some things wrong here but...

In "Genesis", 7 days is exactly how long god took to create the world, the 7th day is the rest day.

Here's where we bring 612 back.

Could 612 be referring to 6:12 ?

I'm not religious so I could be completely wrong about this, but doing a quick google search showed the following:

Matthew 6:12 --
"And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors."

Where in "debts" refers to "sins.
That fits perfectly doesn't it?

Timothy 6:12 --
"Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

"Take hold of eternal life" is a bingo here but "in the presence of many witnesses" ?

Genesis 6:12 --
"And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth."

Genesis is the important part here as the"7 days" could be referring to this. Not sure how this verse fits though.

Food for thought!

Unless we find the exact meaning of 621 we can only speculate.

Of course of course. A very fun part of the game though is this speculation!

True, but it feels like the developer didn't give us much info to work with, the newspapers, the books and the other stuff only leads to dead ends and more questions.
In regards to content to explore the game is pretty much done, the missing part are the links between everything but given the improper translation of the game, it's hard to extrapolate anything.

What do you mean improper translation? As in the in game ciphered text is grammatically incorrect or...?

Each word is translated from japanese to english and then crypted, in translating, the meaning of the phrase is lost, might be an artistic choice or a simplification but the result is that sometimes it's hard to follow.
Here's a important dialogue dechipered:
Visitor asks:
"Human some?"
To which Theo answers:
"Usual human"
"Memory want"
As you can imagine it's hard to extrapolate anything out of this.
