Also, being forced to play any character other than your favorite is insane, what are the devs thinking?
Man, the SAO setting has so much potential, but they keep wasting it on garbage games.
Just make aincrad without Kirito. Boom, you have an amazing game.
Sarcasm at the expense of the over-hyping of the devs aside, I agree completely. There's really no excuse it should be this difficult. They have a winning cast of characters to pull from, a winning setting that has yet to be fully explored (Aincrad), and this is the best they can deliver. Even more frightening is that we have seen next to nothing on the story portion of the game.
While I would never want to see an actual MMO, I feel like the closest we've gotten in terms of features has been Hollow Realization. We had a decent party size, a proper loot system, expansive weapon and armor customization, free-roam multiplayer, a massive map. But instead of expanding on that, we instead got Lycoris and Last Recollection. Whose only merits were the story improvements on the Alicization arc, and the graphics.
My biggest concern right now is ongoing support and the future of the character roster. Out of two DLC packs announced, we're only getting 3 new characters. I guess we'll just have to wait and see who all is going to be in the game at launch and go from there. But I remain skeptical that we'll see lesser known characters like Yulier, the Sleeping Knights, Sachi, Kizmel, Diavel, Liten, etc. I'm honestly skeptical that we'll even see more well known characters like Sakuya, Alecia, Fanatio, Lipia, Sortiliena, and Bercouli. Yes, they've all appeared at one time or another in the previous games, but nothing about this game has given me reason to hope that the roster will be as extensive as it deserves to be.
At least if I were a developer, I would make it dependent on that.
I should also point out the time restrictions and rotation of possiblr boss fights is also just plain stupid. You should be able to fight any boss you want whenever you want.
I really wanted more co-op anime rpg with action combat but this game doesn't even scratch the itch.
The players would only play the most popular content and the rest would play nobody because they wouldn't find any more players and they would have to wait 2 minutes before the rest would be filled up with NPCs. At least in the Open Network test, the waiting time was a maximum of 2 minutes and then it was filled up with NPCs. I don't think they will change that for the full release.
Or if that not happens, what is very unlikely, then players would be split over too many game types and again would have a hard time to find enough players to play without NPCs.
Or if certain bosses are only playable during normal working hours on certain days (depending on how fixed the rotation is), it means players who might want to fight a certain boss will never be able to if it conflicts with their work schedule.
Frankly if I'm playing the MP content at all, I'm going all bot anyways (providing private games are possible).
Here's my list:
- Illfang (Confirmed, Not Raid)
- Gleam Eyes (Roadmap)
- Skull Reaper (Confirmed)
- Fatal Scythe
- Incarnation of the Radius
- Heathcliff
- PoH and Laughing Coffin*
- Fanatio
- Administrator
- Black & Gold Minotaurs (Fairy Arc)
- Four Armed Giant (Rosario)
*based on the clearing team attacking Laughing Coffin guild in Aincrad (never actually shown in anime but spoken of in GGO I believe.)
Do they want people playing or not should be the question.
That's a good observation.
It's not a biggy, it is however funny that a Sword Art Online game of all got this sort of censoring, I mean.. just look at the anime and all the.. uhm.. "themes".. it works with.
This one is not a big issue to me. But I'm at a point where I consider everything that pleases the woke-mob a bother and therefor a negative.
The game itself I like though. Only problem I have is that it has only a small player base and it thins out that player base by design (by not offering Quickmatch options). Also it really lacks content. Content-wise there is like nothing, compared to literally every SAO game that came before it.
You menu-hop through the campaign and then there are like 4 15-minute long dungeons and until level 85 two bullet-spongy bosses to fight.
Since today I am playing Fatal Bullet again. I might get some hate for this, but I personally think Fatal Bullet did everything that Fractured Dream did better.
Also I feel like this game would have been way better even with just one minor change. That change being a removal of the menues in exchange for a little hub area where you and maybe your friends can go and initiate raids/bosses the same way as you could do it in Fatal Bullet.
I don't know about you but switching Dungeons/Modes in this game is bothersome to me. You don't know how many times I pressed Y instead of X on my controller, only to accidently get drawn into content I was not interested in playing again.
A hub area, you go to the raid npc, he lets you chose the raid you wanna go and if you want to fight some bosses you just go to the other side of the room and talk to a different npc. It would be such a small thing, but it in itself would have improved the game by a lot.
There should also a story content area of course though to make that work.
No one enjoys playing Microsoft Excel after all.
But as I said. I like the game. It just has some issues and lacks content/players, which is a big problem in my eyes. This reminds me on Predator Hunting Grounds. I loved this game, but it was in a similiar situation at launch. After only 2 weeks it took sometimes 45 minutes to find enough players for one game.
And yes. I was that dedicated. I waited that long only for people to disconnect during the loading screen in some cases :D
Little girlies undies have been getting censored in the west since before you people even knew "woke" was anything more than what you did in the AM.
Doesn't matter to me much that they censored even the tousands of year old Quinella. My characters are now all running in military gear when I play the game anyway if possible :D I'm not a SBI & friends appreciater. At this point out of principle, after these odd people ruined many franchises I once loved.
Btw: When flying around with Quinella I also noticed, after unlocking my first cosmetic which was for her.. or so I thought when I unlocked it. We could make the point that the flying might be the reason for that censorship. But knowing the publisher worked with SBI before always leaves a bad taste in someones mouth.
My main complains were the other ones I commented anyway. Somehow you failed to quote and comment on those for some odd reason.
