Best i can think of outside of damage is maybe putting on Yuna's passive skill and going for revives when safe to do so. Because a lot of runs people were going down like crazy. But really the raid is just do damage and dodge all the one shot attacks.
You can also try luring some random spawns far away from the Skull Reaper with provoke while taking care not to die yourself (cause no one is going to revive you when you are on the other side of the map)
Best "team player" for extreme would be Yuuki. Having temporary immortality can really save lives. Theirs I mean, go rez them while face tanking everything. (Your damage will suffer but having more people is infinitely more helpful. Unless they suck)
It's second in the "best support for extreme" category.
Passive defense makes sure your team has a higher chance of surviving 1 hit. And the heals make sure they can get that much needed healing afterwards. Unfortunately, it is slow so anyone who sucks really won't benefit at all.
Ultimate is "fairly useless" since you only get it at lv 15. By that time, most people have already dropped out.
There is also the fact that both passives and ultimate seem only work on YOUR team. (so 4 members total for passive. 3 for revives)
Lets take Skull Reaper in your question.
Im speaking as a Heathcliff main.
1) What role do tanks have in that fight?
While not specific "Tank" but I will specific "Heathcliff".
Your main role is "Objective buster", be it "Monster gate" or "Spawn mobs" these are 2 main priority for your MvP points for the team, especially early game when no ones can competitive against Heathcliff DPS. (it got drain down later when everyone unlocked their skills)
"Chivalric Phalanx" will be your first unlock skill.
But when you dont have it yet, you do dash+shield slam > slash 1 or 2 times then dash+shield slam again on the "Monster gate", no characters can competitive against you without skills early game.
This is where you get more points to unlock 2+ skills ahead of other groups early on, by focus on "Monster gate". (not the monsters, you hit the gate, once its break then move on, then you come back for monsters later if any alive)
2) Any special role in the encounter itself other than doing damage?
Specific "Mission" you are going to be target as "Heathcliff" is "Deal most damage".
While it is still "doing damage", but its a "doing damage" in a "specific time".
This is where you can focus, especially if its come up as a 1st mission, where other characters might be struggle, "Heathcliff" can archive this "Mission" with 1 skill, for your team MvP points.
In short, you are doing damage, you begins high at the start of the game and falls off later.
But you need to know when and where to do it, especially as a tank, because you are slower than others to reach objective, but you got the damage to get things done.
Agil and Alice have different playstyle to archive different objective as a Tank, so I wont be talking about them(cuz Im not pro enough with them)
