calm down Mr. AzureSky it seems like every post you make is doom and gloom
if you dislike how people are, stick with single player games XD
I always came in late on other SAO games but I'm not sure if they ever really advertised
their character customization options other than Fatal Bullet
where the original character was kind of a big deal
But I do know that every SAO game seems to have someone asking
"how to create character"
So it's probable that this has happened before
though if they really wanted to be scummy they could sell hairstyles and colors later +pain
I know a lot of solo players who used to love online games and especially MMOs, but can't stand the way too many of today's players behave. Not team players, selfish (Me Me Only is a well known MMO meme), not able to learn, rush, are generally toxic, make their own rules, don't accept simplest existing rules (don't cheat, behave decently etc.) and sometimes have more fun taking the fun out of the game for others than having fun with the game itself.
Yeah, I'm sorry if I don't get along with such people.
There's also the option of putting together your own community
just complaining about things won't help the situation
and what you view as toxic and awful may not actually be toxic and awful
you even fall under your own definition of what you don't like in some ways
Human nature dictates a desire for mastery over a craft regardless of what that craft is
as people experience a thing they will inevitably try to overcome that thing
sure there is some selfishness in that but there is also growth
and personally I wouldn't really want a world where everyone acts stuck up
trying to enforce nebulous etiquette rules against the masses
it's much more entertaining to experience people as they are
at least for me
take it as some guy that wants to vent, I realized his tendencies to write walls of text and hating on players and he's right in a way but his execution of using that right is really counterproductive.
I don't really mind how people behave when playing, I play with my friends, not randoms. But when buying, in the end the dlc market we all "enjoy" was shaped by greedy players that wanted to have advantages over others in form of microtransactions, so psychological networks were made by the devs to abuse these sales practices and it honestly makes me sick reading that everyone buys edition X and not the base one, because overall, these kind of decisions affect us all and keeps making the market worse and worse. The only thing I can do is not beeing part of the gang and preach.
Yeah, you are right with that. I rant way too much about that, I know that myself. One reason is because I have simple give up on that. If you have nothing to lose it's more easy to say it that way I do.
Right, and that is not even something bad. The thing is how they want to archive it, many want to go the easy way, that is the problem. The easy way leads to cheating, blaming other for their own faults etc.
If there were no rules, there would be pure chaos in the world. Humans need rules to be able to live together at all without constantly being at each other's throats. But yes, we have too many rules now and often the wrong one instead of others we really need.
But nobody can really want people to stop following any rules at all. Back to games, many see in games “just games”, they are often not taken seriously enough, so there is nothing wrong with misbehaving in them, disregarding the operator's rules, etc.
Not for me anymore, I have seen too many crap.
Do you know why I write a wall of text? Because when I say the same thing in fewer words, people interpret things into my statements that aren't there at all.
And here is the biggest difference between us. I loved it 15+ years ago to play also with randoms. And yes, there were strange players back then too, but nothing like today. I had a lot of great experiences with randoms back then, especially in MMOs where you come across a lot of them. And then it get all more and more toxic and the good random players turned into solo players who don't want to play with other anymore.
Right, and I don't support that as well. At least by ignoring such content inside games, but also often by not buying this games. My backlog with games I already own is anyway way too big (some of the SAO games are in there), so I don't run out of game I can play without such content.
Gonna be blunt, probably hard pressed to call them "fans" of sao if the only way they care about the game is if they can self insert themselves and are ready to hate on the characters anytime a game releases where you actually interact with sao even slightly close to how the ip was designed. Usually a fan of something actually cares about it and the content it has, but half of these pre-release steam forums have just been "wah wah I can't play as a cac and have to play as an actual character from the ip, bad game no buy, woest me". and I'm not gonna sugar coat it and pretend that isn't what's been happening.
Fatal Bullet was awesome, a own unique Character that was integrated into the story. Every other SAO game is just stupid boring one-dimensional Kirito
If I'm being entirely honest I kinda hated Kirito as a character till Alicization
he felt too manufactured and extremely inhuman most of his character traits
are extremely selfish but portrayed as extremely righteous and it never sat well with me
not to mention the pacing of the anime was ALWAYS such a mess that you never
really got to spend time with the characters and witness their own personal growth
However the World of SAO was always genuinely very interesting to me
every bit of world building that I've heard is absolutely fascinating
Like how do tails work in ALO are they free moving or do you control them
Could you theoretically use the Cait Sith Tail to hold a weapon?
what type of psychological effects does fulldive have on the users
because clearly it has some subtle effects (as shown by Leafa and Sinon)
The SAO Survivor school plot line in general
The Mechanics of the Underworld
that world building is what kept my interest and allowed
me to experience some of the other avenues of the franchise
So I'm going to argue against you when it comes to SAO fans
Kirito is such a difficult character to like & Asuna is the white bread of female protagonists
I'd argue Kirito is much better used as a legendary force of nature type of character
Something that you could fight after a secret quest line or something
though they kinda missed that shot in Fatal Bullet when they have
you interact with the group almost immediately in the story XD
but as they are normally handled I don't blame anyone for disliking them as characters
having said that I actually enjoyed them in Alicization Lycoris quite a bit
so maybe they just needed proper time to exist more naturally
xD just seen this as first entry on last page and all i can say to this comment is
are you serious have you seen the way the gaming industry of non Indie games goes
nearly NO ONE is able to do those game seen them as a base is a joke and you could throw away at least 80% of all games done by AAA Studios if you want to compare them to those lol .
the game is "decent" and slightly overpriced but that seems to be the trend by now see the PS5 pro for example a console was always the cheaper gaming option and now they increase the price to hell as well or when it comes to games see all those games by Ubisoft all the same put on a new generated overworld but gameplay the same get a tower make some side missions challenge area boss repeat and they price it also like hell.
