Best Base Location update
Well NYS Department of Transportation in Dannemora is my current base and it's been the best I found so far. But all this time just down the road there was something even better. Blake Farm Storage. Two double stall garage buildings, one single stall garage building, full fence (but needs gates). But this place also has it's own fenced in water tower with 7 million gallons of water. It's going to be a big job moving and setting everything back up but I think the move is worth it.

Give the Bridge Hills Bar'N Grill at the southern edge of Saranac a try sometime. The upstairs house has 1 door and 1 window to fortify against hordes, but you get 3 fridges on premises, tons of stuff to disassemble, and a well furnished house. Just move a few solar panels from the recreation area, and build an insulated rain catcher outside the wash room window, (you can hook it up to the sinks and washer too) and you're set. Even has at least 1 van out front. (the last 6 times I made a new game it was even unlocked and had a key in the ignition)

Literally the best possible starter base location in the game, and second best overall. (best overall is the barn that JaWoodle found that has a ladder the zombies can't climb, making it completely immune to hordes)
The Bar and Grill is definitely a great starter base for sure. Being able to just reinforce a door and a window for the upstairs is a HUGE benefit, plus, then you can basically leave the windows open and get some sunshine, which I really like. I hate the barricaded windows thing, it feels like I'm in a prison cell. 😂

One other nice thing is you can break one of the windows on the upper level, so you can climb out onto the roof overhang, then you can shoot down at zombies or whatever if they horde. 👍

But yeah, later on, there are definitely some great fenced options like the OP posted, where you can have a big spread, with the fencing already in place. I tend to turn off zombie climbing anyway, because it feels more realistic. Zombies climbing a tall fence but they can't open doors? Give me a break. 🙄
Damn. Yea, Blake Farm Storage is Top 5 due to that water tower. Calico? Farm also has a water tower.
I have been seeing a lot of people using Dannemora Town Garage since there is a water tower a short ways down the tracks.

I had been living in warehouse next to power plant in .022, but in .023 I have moved into Lyon mtn Fire Depot (no pics yet). The lack of windows on roof a a major bonus to Farming space.

Calico Farms for me now. I was using the garages at the Quarantine Center, but that would of been rough in the winter months. Calico is now air conditioned and has a fireplace. Nice basement too. Big metal garage with 2 doors and the big barn.
One of the houses along the NE shore of Chateaugay Lake. You can build a bridge to the island for a cool getaway place to vaca. There are other cabins right nearby for another staycation too. And the first house on the road has a farm plot and a greenhouse. And there are two shipwrecks and a underwater cave in the lake too.
i kinda find the church the one in Dannemore interesting: 1. the church nice big space inside only minus is you down have stuff like: bed shelfs kitchen stuff, but you can allways transport its nice to furniture it as you wish with stuff, 2. nice flat ground on both sides and no extreme schrub to glicts through your stuff allround the church and you can include a warehouse which is next to it with walls and one more problem or bug for now there is the smell yes in the beggining the church is full of blood and corpses but for some reason even after cleaning the vomit including smell notification lingers did allready inform the devs about it...

Any vids on your channel showing how to make a bridge?
Any base location suggestions for the new Franklin area? The sawmill and airport are both interesting, but not sure they're my cup of tea.

Dollhouse is nice. Comes with a solar panel and 2 kero heaters. Post office is small, but it has a second floor that only needs one t2 door to make it zombieproof.
