What's your favorite base?
What spots do you like to call home? Any place with a roof and a door can work, but what do you think is the best base location, and why? I'm curious what others have found that gives the best security, resources, convenience, and adaptability - for early, mid or late game.

I keep hearing about the lake house (which I haven't seen yet,) and the bar & grill outside Sarnac where I am currently living seems popular, but honestly I'm not sure why other than the big professional kitchen... I'm curious about opinions of others on what makes a good base!

Im north of the church in 2 story. This is my first real play through though and I just kind of wound up here.
I would also like to hear others suggestions on a good base
Fire Station. Two bays for parking vehicles with plenty of room for storage and crafting. The the office areas for cooking and sleeping. More than enough room for 1-3 people.
I prefer the American Legion Clubhouse to the Bar an Grill, better defense. Chain link fence has more hit points against zombies than the plain wooden fence at bar an grill, the entrance is small so only minimal gate required. Close to river and great fishing spot. large walk in freezer and multiple cold fridges, 2 bathrooms, concrete verandah out back under cover. You can stand on the roof if you want and shoot all zombies thru the chain link fence. Plenty of trees around base for firewood and the like. Literally 50 metres from a main highway. Huge propane tank outside, you can move your industrial grill/oven out onto verndah and cook outside by connecting propane tank. Once alot of trees cleared you have a great view down to the river. South part of map just before arriving at Bar/Grill. Also just down the road from the tackle /archery shop.Arrows dont attract zombies and kill them with 1 shot /weapons normally require 2 shots.
School is fairly good if you go to the attic area and barricade the stairwell. It has easy roof access to the generator too. School has a stack of resources to salvage also.
Bigger is better. I started at the 2 story north of the church i saranac, but it quickly became too cramped.

On the same street as this house in saranac is a road the goes in a curve northwest. And right outside of saranac are two big houses. They're 2 story with a basement, and there's a detached HUGE garage next to each one. The one closest to saranac is a salmon/orange color and the one farther away is tan.

The salmon/orange house currently has a small glitch that happens everytime I'm away from the base: the lights stop working. Other free standing things like floor lamps are working fine, but the ceiling lights stop. If I save and reload they work fine again.

It might be happening at the tan house, I haven't tried yet.

The bar and grill is nice, but it's like TOO big. Like monstrous. There's no garage, and I'm not sure what use the bottom floor (the grill part) would be useful for. The upstairs apartment is also massive all by itself. Multiple bedrooms, laundry room, huge kitchen and living room, etc.
I'm in the lake house on the small island. It has a lot of growing pots and 4 garden plots as well. There is a guest house I'm turning in to a work shack. I like because it's an island and you can block the bridge. Main house is 2 story and very nice for couple players. The view is amazing and you can fish.
The ISLAND!
shopping around after getting a lot of mats, i `m at the bar and grill, its cool with fridge, freezer, stove, but looking for maybe 2-3 door garage, maybe a industrial place close to weapon loot up north
I would love to find an industrial building with a flat roof and roof access. Put all the grow plots up there and the solar and wind turbines. I haven't really found anything that fits that bill. Either it has a pitched roof or there's no access to the roof (and we can't build stairs).

I seem to remember that there were 1 or 2 big garage or warehouse looking buildings on the south road that goes through Sarnac. Big square buildings with large garage doors and a ladder to the roof.

This is copied from a YouTube post. I didn't copy the posters name for attribution, sorry :/

I prefer the High Noon Plaza due to the large freezers you can build crate shelves and storage barrels in for long term food and water storage (freezing really slows down decay and water going putrid), has a functional kitchen, it has the big garage with the air machine and oil storage and tire racks etc, has two enormous flat roofs with access for lots of farming plots, water catchers and solar arrays up away from zombies, has gas pumps onsite and a huge propane tank, a river behind it for fishing, plenty of wood nearby to cut, plenty of parking space. We used the C store as living quarters, if you scrap the toilets theres plenty of space in the bathroom for putting in laundry. We had the workshop in the post office, used the end section as a giant warehouse, put our battery arrays and backup generator in the back hallway, and used the small room as an armory. IMO it has the best amenities for a long play by far if you dont mind building a fortress around it. I expect this to really be true when they put in the trading and the economy runs off of growing wacky tobacky, the massive farms that roof can support will come in clutch lol

Lake island house is cute but you have to tear out most of what makes it cute to have storage and workshop, it has very limited ground space for solar, farming, and parking. The only advantage I see is less fortification.
close to high noon plaza , there is a 2 transport truck garage, big doors, access to roof, not all flat, but next building to it has ton of flat roof, only if we had a way to make floors or add a truck below with something on top to access the other building, u can jump on, but not nice
will take my pink lambo and go scout for my next lv house
Island house for the beauty...but I'm thinking of moving to a larger space with big garage doors and flat roof access.
Also be aware starting small and eventually moving up to large premises is a good strategy as you become more prepped. Larger bases attract more horde attacks.
Larger bases act like a heat source like in seven days to die calling in screamers.
