So is there a pop soft cap?
seems like its around 80 or something.

To get over 90 you basically have to be feeding them the best food, the best booze and have them in the best houses. And even then it will be super slow.

there is for the player but not the ai, it's probably the biggest imbalance in the game right now, wish the devs would get it in check.

currently i have a pop of 100-103 and 23sh warriors. i suggest using Varn books that give 20% ruttabaga and 20% hop increases, along with the book that cuts moonshine debuff in half. At 100 pop i have a hard time feeding everyone moonshine and sometimes food. I am playing on the hardest zone and game so i cant really say what the cap is but maybe there is no cap.. i dont like how all my people are all put into food.

This was my experience. I got to 115. It isn't impossible but incredibly finicky.

The AI seems to play by its own set of rules, different from the player. They never grow over 70 or so, buy they don't need to either.

Build only peasant houses for non nobles, make sure people can afford meat and flavorful ale and pay unemployed and it will keep growing.

Is performance an issue at all 100+ pops? I haven;t really noticed any drops with 70-80 ish and 50 soldiers.

I didn't have any problem but it might depend on your setup.

FPS drops pretty harsh at 125 pop, also the game can take up to 19gb of RAM if you play for a couple of hours
