I wasnt in such situation myself yet, just guessing..
Is it actually bad? Cant you turn them into Knights or do something else usefull with them?
It is because it causes people to hate each other and start gossiping. The next thing you know, half of your council hate each other. I spent like 3 game days to smooth things over with just my wife being a bastard, now imagine an army of bastards... And when your nobles want to murder them...
This is ggod sign for a game if its not some an unfortunate bad "balance fix". It brings it closer to Rimworld class of game.
What do you mean? My Bishop did not produced any bastards yet.. Is there some penalty for "Bad Bishop"? ))
If you have a Bishop that behaves badly, and I think most times they do as far as drinking and having lots of sex with various partners lol, there is not necessarily a penalty for the things he does, but some bad things can come of it. I think the main thing is the Bishop is your connection to the Church and so if you want to have a good relationship with the Church, having a good relationship with your Bishop helps. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I don't have all the details right.
Of course, you can do a playthrough and try to have as many agnostics as possible by preaching the Sermon of Doubt (I think that is what it is called) in your Temples. I'm not sure of all the mechanics of this method because I haven't tried it yet, but it also opens other gameplay possibilities.
Also, you are correct in thinking that bastard children can be useful if you want to go that route. It is probably not the easiest way to be successful in this game, but yeah any child you have in your village/settlement can be helpful by reading books and eventually when they turn 18, you can choose how you want to use them. Just make sure you are educating them from early age as then they will be way more useful when they turn 18.
