How to get more peasants to move in?

I had a large flesh-wolf attack and then rats got into my food, so now it says i have roughly 15 jobs available, and its starting to effect my production. How do I get more peasants to move in? I raised their wage and started to build some single houses. I don't understand why peasants don't have children like lords do, or an option to send people out to recruit peasants.

So you think if I just stop making moonshine and focus 100% on beer and flavorful ale it'll help? I've got like 140 beer and peasant wages are 11g - beer is 6g so they should be able to buy it instead? But they aren't.

Do they earn enough to purchase Beer and Food? I think but am definitely not sure that they prioritize food over booze but happy for someone to correct if that's wrong.

Also make sure you have updated the sale limit on beer in the finace tab. I think it sets a limit on how much it will sell per day by default.
