Research is exhausting
I am absolutely all in on Norland. I just love it. But please please please reconsider research. It just feels so painful and really bogs down my enjoyment of the game trying to keep up with it constantly. Even just an option to make it quicker would be great. Thank you so much.

At least some of the basic options should really start unlocked. Maybe add more high-level research to offset it or worse quality "basic" options that start unlocked, but not being able to build a basic prison when the default scenario has you attacking bandits and taking prisons is pretty absurd.

You don't need a prison ward to have prisoners. It just boosts their happiness so they're less likely to try to escape or revolt, but early in the game they don't really try anyway.

You can't feed them without one. They starve to death unless you sell them to the church.

I like it, but it is rather punishing at times. Especially the capacity for knowledge to be lost. Ending up with a pile of books that nobody has read is a major problem. I would be happy to just speed the process up a bit, as later in the game the lords are so incredibly busy.

Do not amass books in earlygame. Sell them and spread knowledge via lessons and social interactions. Books should be last resort to gaining knowledge, a lot of it can be gained by your managers getting inspirations too! All those guests chugging your beer? Make them your friends and gain their knowledge as well.

The whole kids can read books after 12 should be automatic IMO they don't do anything else so if not manually assigned they should just auto read a book. Your going to do it anyways so i don't see harm in this.

kids should be able to also have wise conversations to use them as a knowledge sharing tool between lords

Urm how many wise kids you know? It's kind of irrelevant, if the kid knows it you can build it. They will outlive their parents usually so no need for them to pass it on to someone older.

I always try and have one high INT high Teacher that does all the study and use them to teach the kids which passes the techs onto the kids. They pretty much only study teach and wise talk. Then i focus the kids on reading books the teacher doesn't know. That way usually by the time they grow up they usually know almost all the techs.

And when the kid leaves because your slots are full, you lose the knowledge... Happens all the time in my games till i stopped letting kids read books

You get notified that they require a title in advanced. kick someone out.

I do believe the devs made them hang around as a "guest" now however so you have longer to kick someone out.

I had this issue when playing Varn initially because I was trying to research absolutely everything, the problem is with Scope, when I played Kaiden my focuses were narrower so i completely ignored entire categories of tech and was able to focus on the stuff that mattered, rather than trying to setup a complex food/alcohol economy in the first weeks i just fed everyone rutabaga constantly while teching straight into all the weapons and armor industry. Then when the fever alert popped up i started doing flour.

They recently patched it so free lords always have a bit of management skill too so when I needed to free a lord to educate a child i ended up recruiting a free lord and had a management 15 child that was starred in it before he was even old enough for a title.

I have found it very difficult to learn through wis conversations. For one thing, to do that you have to have a very good relationship between the two people, and there's just too much critical stuff that lords need to do. Reading the book is a bit slower, but it's guaranteed if you have the book and it's not that much slower considering that you have to build relationships that you might not otherwise prioritize.

I make all them kids learn the technology before they are 18 helps a lot
