Population barrier
As the title suggests having trouble with passing a certain barrier with population, I have almost all technology unlocked and prepared to be used, have a decent 35+ man army, i have food and drinks for all even the price is enough for peasants to get a fancy drink every 3 days if they save. I have some vagabonds, maybe 1 cutthroat. just under 8 prisoners. And for the world of me I cannot see or understand how else should I change things for my population to raise over 60. It just lingers there and nothing happens, even though I get constant emigration. Anyone knows how to get out of this slump? (Housing is not a problem as well, plenty of peasant houses+dormitories).

I have the same problem, playing on the highest difficulty and my population is stuck at 50.. whenever 4 new peasants arrive the counter automatically goes down to 48...weird - anybody knows whats up? Is it a hard cap due to difficulty setting?

Similar happened to me yesterday. then i relised 2 things. 1) villagers were not so happy so migration is weak. 2 villagers were old so some of them passed away. Check their age and happiness

I finally cracked it, if you learn the cheapest alco recipe to not make it so bad(half bad) they tolerate it better, hence I have around 70 now.

You might consider replacing the dormitories. The peasant housing is far superior.

I completed the game on hardest difficulty on hard map without fertile land with 128 peasants and 63 warriors.

100% of my peasants lived in private peasant houses and it keeps growing.

The problem was indeed in large part the dormatories. You can get away with a lot more when you just have housing, just the problem becomes walking distance to work, and where to put all these houses, they take up a lot of space.

But u dont need more then like 100 people to easily complete the game currently,so there is little point in growing bigger.Optimization in big settlements is also pretty bad.

I understand, it's in my nature to limit test I guess. How much I could grow and etc.

If you're decent at planning the space, I believe you can replace one dormitory with 4 peasant houses, which is 8 people housed, so you'll need one extra house per dormitory. If you delete the dormitories one at a time and don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a layout in your town, it shouldn't be too difficult to replace dormitories with houses over time. Get the book that makes your loyalists never stop being loyalists and you'll have a happy populace over time.

One of the problems is also a bug related to messengers (so people doing trades, diplomacy, etc.). When they return they will sit there jobless and jobless peasants often become vagabonds. The fix is to just lower the worker count of a building (any building) and raise it again and they'll rejoin the workforce.

This is a very nasty bug that is likely affecting many many people without them knowing it.

No there is no limit on population... it can keep growing and you have ways to boost growth by freeing prisoners etc.

Peasants cannot make babies.
They arrive at min 18 years old and die of old age around 60ish so your population growth needs to be higher than the rate they die from old age. I've seen peasants join as old as 50... so "new" peasants can live very short lives of 20 days or so...

Hi guys!
Can you send us your save files via the Bug Report form so we can reproduce this population problem? That way we can fix it much faster.
In the form, please write that these are the saves with the population problem.

The save files can be found %localappdata%/Strategy/saves/
To get to this folder, press Win + R and type this path into it

Thanks!

In the demo there was the option to boost migration on your tribute villages but i only see the option to stifle migration, i wish we got that back.
