how to knight someone
i was told you have to get a mercenary... so i hired one and hes at my kingdom but i dont see an option to knight them. only to grant title but that requires a knighthood

Knights are the BEST options for turning into Vassals... why? Because they have extremely low trade skills (2-3) once they are turned into Lords... and your trader is going to get massive profits in a trade agreement :D

Also there is a cap for Knights... if you have 2 already there will never be more knights showing up to be hired. So if you turn them into lords and send them to settle vacant lands you can hire new replacements again.

knights are mercs that tell you they are knights when you mouseover them in the army screen. You can only have up to 2 of them.. they are usually the 2 left most mercs that are level 15 combat skill.

oh dang so its specific mercs ok. so is the 2 limit in addition to having 2 free lords? or does the 2 limit apply to both categories? because if i already have 2 lords hired that might be why i wont see a knight

Are the knights just good fighters whats the benefit of them? I haven't used them or really got that far into it. I hope they add chivalry where knights don't kill each other n prefer to capture and we can ransom them off or eventually release them. They are like expensive military hardware that you don't want to lose over ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

They're basically commanders you can use for sub-squads or small stuff plus good fighters. Ransom is a cool idea though. This world's Not!Catholic Church is even more into mercy and negotiation despite all the fighting so ransoms would probably be even more important than irl.

good call. should you consider their culture before landing them though? i assume the land takes the culture from its ruler and changes when it changes

I don't really bother anymore... even my own sons of same culture are willing to betray me on a whim... Better to think of vassals as "Temporary" tax payers. Trade agreements are the BEST way to generate money and the best trade agreements are vs kings with lowest trade skills.
