Full game
In the demo of the game, it said July 10 as the release date. Has this date been delayed?

From what I've gathered is they're aiming to release the game at the end of the summer, if it's not ready yet they will delay by another month as to not release during September (since there's a lot of big games being released that month, they don't want to get snowed under, understandably!). This is because of the amounts of bugs us demo players have found, they don't want to release it when it doesn't feel ready, they want to release it in as good a state as possible for us

The message in game says the demo is available until July 10th. I don't think they gave a solid date yet for EA release. The demo was more of a way for them to play test the game. From what the update says the demo feedback gave them tons of things they want to fix or change before EA launch.

I'm looking forward to the game, but am ok with waiting for it to be how the devs want it to be.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Why would it be suicidal to release an early access game around the time of Starfield?
I mean, if it was a full game then I would understand (no sales as most would buy Starfield), but an early access has never been a "full game" so I'm trying to understand how Starfield would play into this since Nordland could be in early access for 1 to 4 years or more before actual release.
I think most developers have a skew idea of what an "early access" means :)

If this game released in the same month as starfield, I would buy both of them. Because I like this kind of game and I like RPGs.

It's all about traction. All the attention will be aimed towards games like Starfield when it comes out, if they release at/around the same time they lose traction from this. Even for an early access game, this can be deadly... The more traction they gain at the start, the easier it will be to keep that momentum until full release, if you don't have it from the start it can be VERY hard to gain. Don't get me wrong, I think Norland has plenty of die hard fans already, especially when I look around in the Discord, but I do understand their point of view. When to release is very important in the game/gamedev world.

I'm so sad to hear that because you really have no idea how long I've been waiting for this game. I wanted to create my own cavalry and make crazy conquests :/

I honestly totally relate, I love this game so much and I can't wait to be able to properly play it, but I can see where they come from, from a gamedev pov.. Just know the game will be improved a lot compared to the demo, cause that's the main reason they're delaying the release <3

Same here. I already preordered Starfield and will buy Norland as soon as it hits EA.

Whenever it releases I will be buying it.

Think of it this way, if they release in September to poor fanfare because of big releases, they wouldn't be able to generate the funding they need to make as many cool things for the game as possible and might have to stop development. On the flip side, if they get release right and generate a lot of hype, they can have the money to keep going and add more and more features
This and starfield are two different games regarding genres. Shouldn't affect the purchase of the game by too much.

I don't think that's right. It's less a genre thing and more some people can only afford to buy one.

You are absolutely right, but it's not even just that, this game will be snowed under by the hype Starfield etc create.. People forget it's not those who already fell in love with Norland they have to haul in, it's those who haven't heard about it yet. And it will be A LOT harder to hear about Norland with all the Starfield noise going on.
