I'm looking forward to the game, but am ok with waiting for it to be how the devs want it to be.
I mean, if it was a full game then I would understand (no sales as most would buy Starfield), but an early access has never been a "full game" so I'm trying to understand how Starfield would play into this since Nordland could be in early access for 1 to 4 years or more before actual release.
I think most developers have a skew idea of what an "early access" means :)
It's all about traction. All the attention will be aimed towards games like Starfield when it comes out, if they release at/around the same time they lose traction from this. Even for an early access game, this can be deadly... The more traction they gain at the start, the easier it will be to keep that momentum until full release, if you don't have it from the start it can be VERY hard to gain. Don't get me wrong, I think Norland has plenty of die hard fans already, especially when I look around in the Discord, but I do understand their point of view. When to release is very important in the game/gamedev world.
I honestly totally relate, I love this game so much and I can't wait to be able to properly play it, but I can see where they come from, from a gamedev pov.. Just know the game will be improved a lot compared to the demo, cause that's the main reason they're delaying the release <3
You are absolutely right, but it's not even just that, this game will be snowed under by the hype Starfield etc create.. People forget it's not those who already fell in love with Norland they have to haul in, it's those who haven't heard about it yet. And it will be A LOT harder to hear about Norland with all the Starfield noise going on.
