Ship prices increasing?
I'm trying to save up some money and buy some new ships but every time I go to complete missions or sell manufactured goods the prices of those same ships seem to keep increasing. One ship I was wanting to buy started at around 20 mil but now I'm at 75 mil in my bank and that same ship that was 20 mil is now at 90. No matter how much I save up the ships always stay about 10 - 15 million out of my reach. I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong?

There is an inflation mechanic, but that seems rather aggressive. You can adjust the inflation value in your save file, if you want.
How do you adjust the inflation rate. I am having the same issue. I ship I wanted was 5mil and when I have enough and a cushion it is almost 7mil now.
Open your save file in a text editor such as Sublime or Notepad++ and change the value "Inflation" to a lower number. Details on finding your save file here: https://www.tls-wiki.com/wiki/Save_file

Would anybody complain/miss it if I removed the inflation mechanic entirely? I'm not convinced it adds anything.

Not sure there would be much resistance, I've only heard negative comments. I can see the point in things getting harder as the game progresses but not sure this is the way. And some things sit funny; like you can invest in a ship, wait for it to appreciate, sell it and make money for nothing (OK Boomer)

Have to agree it doesn't make much sense. Generally in a game if you see a price that's what it is. Also as a new player you don't know about it until it's too late. When I was trying to save for a ship, at first I thought it was different prices in each system, so I was going around looking for the best price, but of course all I was doing was making it higher and higher.

That's real interesting - you instinctively look for an economy, like in Elite, but there isn't one, only inflation that wasn't signposted. Us longer term players know what to watch for, but the game needs to stand on its own.
I liked it/thought it made a lot of sense for the "end of the world" scenario in Survival, but it makes less sense in ~Industry~ Boldly Go.
